Sport Accident Insurance

Sport Accident Insurance

Buckner is pleased to partner with U.S. Ski & Snowboard to provide insurance coverage for U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s national team, general membership as well as the Club Liability Insurance Program (CLIP). Many clubs, divisions, state entities and ski and snowboard club foundations are eligible for the CLIP. For more information please refer to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Insurance Program in the Resources section.

Sport Accident Insurance For National Team Members

Please Note: If an athlete is involved in a sports accident related to U.S. Ski & Snowboard participation, an online report must be filed within two days of the injury. If an athlete is to spend the night in the hospital outside of the U.S., the primary insurance company must be notified immediately.

USOPC Elite Athlete Health Insurance
The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee provide Elite Athlete Health Insurance (EAHI) to eligible athletes and their dependents for non-U.S. Ski & Snowboard related accidents as well as major medical and illnesses.

Excess Participant Accident Insurance
All named national team members of Olympic ski and snowboard disciplines (including National Training group and the University Team) will be provided Excess Sport Accident coverage for injuries that occur due to an accident during U.S. Ski & Snowboard-supervised practice, training, or competition.

Catastrophic Medical Coverage
All named national team members of Olympic ski and snowboard disciplines (including National Training group and the University Team) also receive U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s catastrophic medical coverage.

Medical Evacuation
U.S. Ski & Snowboard is committed to ensuring Team athletes receive the best care available. To this end, we have several options for Medical Evacuation. If a serious injury occurs, the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Medical Director will activate an appropriate medical evacuation plan in conjunction with the attending physician in the field. Medical evacuation means emergency transportation from an international event or training site outside the United States or Canada to a medical facility when standard transportation is not adequate for the insured person who, as a result of life-threatening injury, requires immediate medical treatment.

Sport Accident Insurance For U.S. Ski & Snowboard General Members

U.S. Ski & Snowboard requires all of its U.S. Ski & Snowboard Members to have valid and sufficient primary medical/accident insurance coverage and to accept full responsibility for understanding the provisions of such coverage as a condition of becoming a U.S. Ski & Snowboard member and participating in official U.S. Ski & Snowboard training and competition. Such primary coverage must be in effect for the entire term of the membership year. Athletes must carry proof of primary insurance and such proof must be available at each event so that prompt medical/hospital care can be authorized if needed.

Excess Accident Medical Insurance for Members of Non-U.S. Ski & Snowboard CLIP Member Clubs
Current individual U.S. Ski & Snowboard Members of a non-U.S. Ski & Snowboard Clip Member Club have excess accident medical coverage during sanctioned or registered events including official training at such events. Official training must take place at the location and on the dates designated by the event organizer of the sanctioned or registered event. Such training must be supervised or directed by a U.S. Ski & Snowboard representative and/or representative of a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Member Club. For more information please refer to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Insurance Program in the Resources section.

Excess Accident Medical Insurance for Members of U.S. Ski & Snowboard CLIP Member Clubs
