The NNF Cup

The NNF Cup celebrates club excellence in America’s premier domestic ski competition by tallying performance of club teams across the SuperTour season. 2023 U.S. Ski and Snowboard SuperTour presented by the National Nordic Foundation

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard SuperTour presented by the National Nordic Foundation is the highest level of competition in the United States. Top racers race head to head 19 times in a variety of disciplines at 7 different venues over the course of the season. With World Cup start spots and funding on  the  line. Note that this year, Men and Women will race the same distance at all SuperTour races. 

The 2022-23 series will start our north of the border on the trails at Sovereign Lake in British Columbia, Canada. The races will start with a Classic Sprint on  Wednesday November 30th.  Racers will then compete in a 10km Freestyle Mass Start on Thursday December 1st. The weekend continues with a Freestyle Sprint on Saturday December 3rd and a 10km Classic Individual Start race on Sunday December 4th.

The SuperTour then travels to Sun Valley, Idaho for 3 more races on the Lake Creek Trails- a 15km Class Mass Start on Thursday December 8th, a Classic Sprint on Saturday December 10th, and a 10km Freestyle Individual Start on Sunday December 11th. This concludes Period 1 of the SuperTour- The Overall leaders of the SuperTour will be invited to compete in Period 2 of the World Cup (better known as the Tour de Ski!). 

Period 2 of the SuperTour begins with the 2023 U.S. National Championships hosted by Michigan Technological University on the Michigan Tech Trails in Houghton, Michigan. Racing begins on Monday January 2nd with the 10km Freestyle  Individual Start National Championship. The next race will be Wednesday January 4th, a Classic Sprint Nationals Championship. The 20km Classic Mass Start National Championship will be on Friday January 6th (Note that Junior athletes will race a 10km on this day). The week of racing will conclude with a Freestyle Sprint on Saturday January 7th. Note that the sprint on January 7th is not a Nationals Championship. The Freestyle Sprint National  Championship will be held at SuperTour  Finals/Spring Nationals in Craftsbury.

The first 3 races at U.S. Nationals (including the Junior 10km Mass Start) are used to select athletes to t he World Junior Championships and NNF U18 Nordic Nations Cup Trip. All 4 races in Houghton will be used to select athletes to the World U23 Championships. World Junior/U23 Championships will be in  North America in 2023- on the 2010 Olympic trails in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. World  Juniors will be held January 27th-February 5th.

Following U.S. Nationals, SuperTour racers will move to the Birkie Trails in Cable, Wisconsin. Racers will tackle a 30km Classic Mass Start in conjunction with the popular Seeley Hills Classic on Saturday January 14th. The next day (Sunday January 15th) racers will wax up  the  classic skis again for a Classic Sprint. This Concludes Period 2 and the selection period for the World Championships. World Ski Championships will be held in Planica, Slovenia February 21st-March 5th. Overall SuperTour leaders earn start rights to Period 3 of World Cup racing.

Period 3 of the SuperTour resumes competition in Minneapolis, MN at Wirth Park Saturday February 18th and  Sunday February 19th with a Freestyle Sprint and 20km Classic Mass Start. Racers will then travel back to Hayward for the 52km Slumberland American Birkebeiner Freestyle Mass Start. This concludes Period 3 of the SuperTour. Overall leaders at this point will be earn start rights for Period 4 of the World Cup.

The SuperTour concludes with SuperTour Finals in Craftsbury, Vermont March 22nd-26th. The Craftsbury Outdoor Center will put on a 10km Classic Interval Start SuperTour on Wednesday March 22nd, then the Freestyle Sprint National Championship on Friday March 24th. The Club Relay National Championship  will be contested on Saturday March 25th with a 4x5km Mixed Gender Freestyle relay. The 2022-23 SuperTour season will conclude with a long distance race on Sunday March 26th- 50km Classic Mass Start.

There will also be a slate of U.S. Ski & Snowboard National Ranking List Races around the country. You can use the Event Lookup tool in your my.usskiandsnowboard dashboard to view all FIS and NRL events currently certified in the country.

There are also U.S. Ski & Snowboard NRL races, FIS races, and lots of amazing citizen races open to all. Please look to your Divisional Website for information on racing in your area.
