Anderson Leads Dew Tour Team Challenge

By Andrew Gauthier

Double-Olympic gold medalist Jamie Anderson continued her hot-streak at the 2020 Dew Tour Thursday at Copper Mountain, Colo. Jamie led Team Oakley in the Team Challenge competition and earned her third win in three weeks.

“I’m stoked on Team Oakley grabbing the win today,” said Jamie. “The Team Challenge was super fun. It’s a really light vibe and a good atmosphere with all your friends. It felt great to have the whole Oakley Team out there supporting me. This event truly embodies the spirit of snowboarding.”

The Dew Tour Team Challenge consists of slopestyle, modified superpipe, and street style competition. Jamie was pulling double duty representing her team in both slopestyle and the street portion, yet she was able to win each competition and work towards the victory for Team Oakley. Today also marked the first time the world’s best female athletes represented their brands in the event alongside a male counterpart.

On the freeskiing end of the Team Challenge, no U.S. Freeski Team members walked away with a team victory, but there were some notable highlights. Representing Team Faction, Alex Hall was the winner of the slopestyle portion and landed a beautiful 270 on front side 630 off with a tail tap. Also, back-to-back X Games Aspen gold medalist Alex Ferreira landed a massive double-flat 720 with Japan grab out of the quarter pipe, and into the traditional portion of the superpipe despite speed challenges.

Team Volkl, led by captain Hunter Hess, was the host to U.S. Freeski Rookie Team member Grace Henderson’s Dew Tour competition debut. With Alex, veteran and two-time Olympic medalist Nick Goepper, U.S. Freeski Rookie Team member Marin Hamill, and the 2018 Olympic slopestyle gold medalist Oystein Braaten from Norway, they may have very well been having more fun than anyone.

“I put in a lot of work out here,” said Hunter jokingly as he didn’t compete in any element of the Team Challenge contest. “The results today mainly fall on me, it’s all on my shoulders.”

The Team Challenge competition seemed to have temporarily lifted significant pressure off many of the athlete’s shoulders. Even Grace, who was competing in her first-ever Dew Tour, was all smiles during the halfpipe competition.

“This has been super fun,” said Grace. “This is actually my first pipe event and I would never think it would be at Dew Tour. I’m happy to be here with Alex and Nick trying to crush it for Team Volkl.”

While last week’s Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix resembled pristine spring conditions, day one of Dew Tour kicked off with relentless snowfall causing the cancellation of both snowboard and freeski slopestyle qualifications. However, the day finished strong with a complete freeski and snowboard Team Challenge program. Although skiers and riders only competed on the first four-features (rails) during the slopestyle portion of the competition due to challenging conditions, it still made for a great day of powdery competition.

Competition continues on Friday with the women’s ski modified superpipe final. Head out to Copper Mountain or tune in live to catch all the action.

U.S. Skiers and Riders Send to Dew Tour

By Andrew Gauthier
February, 3 2020
Dew Tour

The 2020 edition of the winter Dew Tour is set to kick off at a new location this year Feb.6-9 at Copper Mountain, Colo. with modified superpipe, slopestyle and Dew Tour’s signature Team Challenge competition. Although Copper may be a new host to Dew Tour, U.S. Freeski and Snowboard athletes are stepping back into familiar territory.

“I’m super excited to be heading to Copper Mountain for this year’s Dew Tour,” said U.S. Snowboard Team member Toby Miller. “It’s the first year the event has been here, and I can not wait to see what they have in mind for the modified halfpipe. I can’t think of a better location for this event to be hosted. The Woodward Crew has been doing such an amazing job on their parks and pipes for the last couple of years. This year’s Dew Tour is going to be all time!”

Joining Toby from the U.S. Snowboard Halfpipe Team is last year’s second-place finisher Chase Josey, Jake Pates, and last week’s Mammoth Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix second-place finisher, Taylor Gold. Maddie Mastro, who is also coming off a second-place finish at the Mammoth USGP, will represent the women of the U.S. Snowboard Team. In addition, Jamie Anderson will compete in her first-ever modified superpipe event. Maddie was second at last year’s Dew Tour, and also is coming hot off landing her first double crippler in halfpipe competition since winning the 2019 U.S. Open.

Over in snowboard slopestyle, the U.S. roster is stacked including Olympic gold medalist Red Gerard, Olympic silver medalist Kyle Mack, Lyon Farrell, Luke Winkelmann, and last week’s Grand Prix third-place finisher Judd Henkes. 2020 X Games and Mammoth Grand Prix winner Jamie Anderson will lead with women of the U.S. Snowboard team along with style master Hailey Langland and the 2020 Laax Open Champion Julia Marino.

The U.S. Freeski Team is not holding back leading into Dew Tour with a strong list of heavy hitters set to compete led by two-time X Games gold medalist and defending Dew Tour champion Alex Ferreira. Joining Alex is the current FIS World Cup Standings leader Aaron Blunck and U.S. Freeski Pro Team members David Wise, Hunter Hess, Lyman Currier, Taylor Seaton and Birk Irving. For the women, Brita Sigourney, Devin Logan and rookie team member Abigale Hansen are set to drop into the Dew Tour modified pipe.

In slopestyle, the U.S. has a trio of all-stars heading into Dew Tour including last year’s slopestyle silver medalist Alex Hall, two-time Olympic medalist Nick Goepper, and the double 2020 X Games gold medalist Colby Stevenson. Colby is coming into Dew Tour after earning his second podium in two weeks at the Mammoth Grand Prix with a second-place finish. Maggie Voisin and Caroline Claire will represent the Women’s U.S. Freeski Team. Maggie has also earned two podiums in two weeks with third-place finishes at X Games and the Grand Prix.

More than 150 athletes representing 20 different countries will compete at Copper Mountain throughout Dew Tour in their amazing facilities. This year’s Modified Superpipe will start with a double transition feature to a 22-foot pipe hit with a traditional jump landing feature and will finish with a 300-foot traditional Superpipe with 22-foot walls. The Slopestyle course has seven features, including three multi-option jib pads, a transition feature with 13’ walls into traditional jump landings, then concludes with a series of three consecutively larger jumps at 55 ft, 62 ft, and 68 ft.

Do not miss your chance to catch the action in person or tune in to catch the action live.

Henricksen, Anderson, Blunck Victorious at Mammoth Grand Prix

The final day of the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix did not disappoint with U.S. skiers and riders claiming five podiums throughout snowboard slopestyle and freeski halfpipe World Cup competition.

Despite a 4.4 magnitude earthquake in the midst of the event, U.S. Snowboard Team riders Jamie Anderson and rookie Dusty Henricksen took the top spots in slopestyle. Dusty, a Mammoth Lakes, Calif. local, earned his first-ever World Cup win in only his second World Cup final of his career.

“I’m ecstatic to pull up to Mammoth where I grew up riding and walk away with my first win,” Dusty said in disbelief. “I honestly couldn’t ask for more. It could not have been a better day or a better course. It’s super flowy, fun, and fast. It meant the world to have all my boys and supporters out here watching.”

After Dusty stomped the final run of the day to take the top spot with a beautiful backside triple cork 1440, you heard a loud, “We all knew” come from Dusty’s fan base in the finish area. Coming off of Youth Olympic Games gold and then qualifying first at the Laax Open World Cup, Dusty’s trajectory was clear to anyone who has been watching his progress. Dusty currently leads the FIS Snowboard World Cup slopestyle standings, followed by Judd Henkes in second.

Judd, who also calls Mammouth Mountain home, grabbed third. This is Judd’s second podium in two years at the Mammoth Grand Prix and his second-consecutive podium in World Cup slopestyle competition this season after a third-place finish at the 2020 Laax Open.

“I think being at home in familiar territory played a part in my success these last two Grand Prixs at Mammoth,” said Judd. “I’m headed to Dew Tour next week and hope to improve on my performance here.”

After earning his third World cup podium of his career, it’s clear Judd’s still hungry for the remainder of the 2019-20 competition season including pinnacle events like Dew Tour and the U.S. Open.

For the women, Jamie Anderson earned her second win in two weeks following a gold medal performance at X Games Aspen. In her first World Cup slopestyle of the year, she came out firing with smooth style and consistency in classic Jamie fashion.

“Coming to Mammoth after X Games is really nice because its really positive energy in California,” said Jamie. “It’s warm, our whole teams here, and I love competing in the Grand Prix. To be able to put down my first run and stay in first and have the chance to take a victory lap feels amazing. What made today even more special was my dad, my doctor, my first ever coach, and a lot of good people were able to come out to support today.”

Competition continued on Saturday with arguably the best freeski halfpipe contest of the season where Aaron Blunck took the victory. Aaron has reached the podium in every contest he has competed in this season (five events) including an X Games silver medal performance last week.

“After the first run today I was feeling it,” said Aaron. “I just thought to myself, why not give it everything I got. I am feeling really good right now and I don’t ever back down. That’s just not the type of person I want to be. I thought my dad would be extremely proud of me if I continued to give it my all and that’s what I did. Also, to share the podium with Noah Bowman and Lyman Currier is amazing, I look up to them both.”

Head freeski judge Steele Spence described Aaron's runs as, “three of the best pipe runs of all time. They were the hardest runs and he executed them perfectly.”

Aaron came out of the gate on a mission immediately putting down an incredible run, but that was just the beginning. Aaron improved each time he dropped into the pipe. His second and third runs were entirely made up of double-cork variations. Aaron owned the three highest scores of the day.

Teammate Lyman Currier stepped up on his last run to earn third place and his second World Cup podium of the season.

“I’m feeling awesome to make the podium today,” said Lyman. “It was such a heavy competition today and a beautiful day in Mammoth. It seemed to be a competition for second place today. Blunck was on one and it was insane.”

The competition undoubtedly had some amazing moments including U.S. Freeski Team member Hunter Hess landing a 1620 on his run. Kiwi Nico Porteous landed a 1620 rotation at X Games last week for the first time in halfpipe competition.

Led by Aaron, there are currently seven U.S. Freeski Team athletes in the top-10 of the FIS Freeski Halfpipe Cup Standings including Birk Irving, Lyman Currier, Taylor Seaton, Jaxin Hoerter, David Wise, and Hunter Hess.

For the women, U.S. Freeski Team member Brita Sigourney finished in a respectable fourth place landing back to back 900’s in her second and third run. U.S. Rookie Team member Hanna Faulhaber finished in seventh in her first-ever World Cup final.

The U.S. Freeski and Snowboard Slopestyle and Halfpipe Team continue competition next week at the Dew Tour in  Copper Mountain, Colo. In addition, U.S. athletes are also heading to the Calgary World Cup for freeski halfpipe competition.

Five Americans Podium at the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix

Five Americans podiumed in freeski slopestyle and snowboard halfpipe today at the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix FIS World Cup on a beautiful day at Mammoth Mountain, Calif. Colby Stevenson led the U.S. Freeski Team with a second-place finish. This is Colby’s second consecutive World Cup slopestyle podium and fourth consecutive podium in three events.

“I came out feeling healthy today and that is probably the biggest factor playing into my recent success,” said Colby. “I tried to come into finals today with the right mindset trying to have fun. The weather cooperated which made for a great day of skiing and it definitely boosted my confidence having a sunny day with hardly any wind. I’m just trying to keep the ball rolling.”

U.S. Freeski Rookie Team member Deven Fagan finished in third place right behind Colby. This is Deven’s first-ever World Cup podium.

“This is crazy,” said Deven. “My brother (Kiernan Fagan) and I pretty much swapped positions from last year at this contest. My goal was to podium today and I’m really happy with the run I put down. I definitely improved from qualifiers by doing a 1440 on my last jump. I also changed up my rails a little bit.”

Colby and Deven plan to head to Southern California to get some surfing in ahead of their next competition to unwind and regroup. Andri Ragettli, the winningest freeskier in World Cup history, topped the podium for his sixth World Cup win.

For the women, U.S. Freeski Team member Maggie Voisin earned her second consecutive third-place finish following her return from ACL surgery.

“I’m super happy to get back on the podium here in Mammoth,” said Maggie. ‘I’m also really grateful that Mammoth and mother nature brought us sunshine and no wind for finals today. I can’t believe I went back-to-back with podiums at X Games and the Grand Prix.”

U.S. Rookie Team members Marin Hamill finished fifth and Rell Harwood finished seventh, each landing solid runs from top to bottom. Swiss freeskier Sarah Hoefflin topped the podium following a double X Games medal performance last week. Isabel Atkin of Great Britain finished second.

Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix competition continued with men’s and women’s snowboard halfpipe where U.S. Snowboard Team members Taylor Gold and Maddie Mastro each earned second place. Maddie landed her double crippler for the first time in competition since her win at the 2019 U.S. Open. Coming off of a challenging X Games, Maddie was elated to put it down.

“I couldn’t be more stoked,” said Maddie. “I have been working so hard this season and I have tried the double crippler in multiple different contests this year. It’s nice to show everyone what I already know, which is I can stomp that trick when I want to. I am as happy as I could be right now.”

Taylor also landed his signature trick with a double Michalchuck 1080 on his third run. However, it was his first run which held down second-place throughout the entirety of the competition and resulted in his second consecutive World Cup podium.

“I feel really good,” said Taylor. “To be honest, I didn’t expect my first run to hold up in podium position all the way through the competition, but I felt really good to put it down. I was really excited to land my new trick on my third run, but just couldn’t make it all the way down the pipe. It was a super fun event and amazing to have nice weather here.”

At X Games, teammate Chase Josey coined Taylor’s double Michaelchuck 1080 the “Chuck Taylor” and it seems to be sticking.

“You know, I’m not going to fight it,” he said jokingly. “I really like it to be honest. I think it has a nice ring to it.”

Competition continues on Saturday at the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix with snowboard slopestyle and freeski halfpipe finals at Mammoth Mountain, Calif. Tune in on the Olympic Channel and NBC Sports to catch all of the action live.

Four Americans Top Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix Qualifications

Day Two of competition is in the books at the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix at Mammoth Mountain, Calif. and 18 U.S. athletes qualified through to finals in men’s freeski halfpipe, women’s freeski slopestyle, and men’s and women’s snowboard slopestyle.

In men’s freeski halfpipe, the U.S. Freeski Team went five for five in heat one, led by defending Mammoth Grand Prix champion Birk Irving.

“I feel good,” said Birk. “The pipe was a bit scary today. It was pretty vert and icy because it got so warm yesterday, but it was fast and we managed. Mammoth did a great job of painting it and made it easy to see in the flat light. I ended up putting a run down and getting into the top spot. For finals, I have a couple of more difficult runs I want to try, so we will see what happens.”

Taylor Seaton, Aaron Blunck, Jaxin Hoerter, and Hunter Hess followed suit in heat one to make their way to finals. In heat two, Lyman Currier took the top spot and David Wise qualified fifth.

In men’s snowboard slopestyle, U.S. Snowboard Rookie Team member and Mammoth local Dusty Henricksen qualified first in his heat.

“I didn’t have the highest expectation in qualifications today,” said Dusty. “ I know that I’m competing against the best of the best and I’m super hyped to have put down a run and make finals. The course was super fun and flowy, conditions weren’t ideal with the lighting, but other than that we got super lucky with the weather. I might try and bump up the difficulty a little bit for finals if conditions allow.”

Dusty is coming fresh off of a gold medal at the Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020 and will be looking for his first World Cup podium. Joining Dusty in finals are U.S. Snowboard Pro Team athletes Luke Winkelmann and Judd Henkes, as well as Americans Storm Rowe and Dave Retzlaff.

Coming in off of her sixth X Games Gold medal, Jamie Anderson qualified first overall in women’s snowboard slopestyle. Also qualifying through to finals is U.S. Rookie Team member Jade Thurgood and American Isabella Gomez. This will be Jade’s first-ever World Cup final.

U.S. Freeski Pro Team member Maggie Voisin led the U.S. in slopestyle qualifiers finishing second overall.

“I think we really lucked out with weather today,” said Maggie. “It’s a more mellow course, but when the wind comes out, it can definitely be variable. None of that Mammoth wind came into play and the sun came out for a while. I’m super happy to qualify into finals and it’s time to step it up.”

U.S. Freeski Rookie Team members Marin Hamill and Rell Harwood will join Maggie in finals.

Competition has begun at the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix at Mammoth Mountain, Calif. and 14 U.S. athletes qualified through to finals in snowboard halfpipe, men’s freeski slopestyle, and women’s freeski halfpipe. U.S. Freeski Slopestyle Pro Team members Alex Hall and Nick Goepper each qualified first in their heat.

“I’m feeling really good,” said Nick. “I was a little frustrated with my X Game performance, and I came into this week with a chip on my shoulder. For finals, my plan is to build on the run I was able to put down today and hopefully find my way into the top three.”

Also qualifying through for the men are U.S. Freeski Team members Deven Fagan, Kiernan Fagan, Colby Stevenson, and Cody LaPlante.

In men’s snowboard halfpipe, Chase Josey qualified first overall alongside teammates Taylor Gold, Chase Blackwell, Ryan Wachendorfer, and Jason Wolle. U.S. Snowboard Pro Team member Maddie Mastro qualified 4th overall for the women.

The first day of qualifications came to a close with 2018 Olympic bronze medalist Brita Sigourney qualifying third, and rookie team member Hanna Faulhaber qualifying sixth in women's freeski halfpipe.

FIS World Cup competition will continue on Thursday at the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix with snowboard slopestyle, men's freeski halfpipe, and women's freeski slopestyle qualifications.

Freeskiers and snowboarders from across the globe have arrived at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in California’s Eastern Sierra for slopestyle and halfpipe competition at the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix. Holding home-court advantage, 39 freeskiers and 37 snowboarders will represent the United States in FIS World Cup competition.

U.S. Freeski Pro Team member Kiernan Fagan is psyched to compete after earning third-place at last year’s event.

“I’m hyped to be heading back to Mammoth this year,” he said. “It definitely would be sick to get another podium at this event and hopefully improve on my result from last year. I’m looking forward to the competition."

Joining Kiernan from the U.S. Freeski Slopestyle Pro Team is Willie Borm, Nick Goepper, Kiernan Fagan, Alex Hall, and Colby Stevenson. Colby had a dominant performance last week to become the first X Games rookie to win gold in freeski slopestyle at X Games Aspen. This was Colby’s second gold medal of the week after winning the inaugural ski knuckle huck event.

For the women, U.S. Freeski Pro Slopestyle Team’s own Caroline Claire, Devin Logan, and Maggie Voisin will compete. Maggie’s had a long road to recovery following ACL surgery last year. However, in her first competition back from injury at X Games Aspen, she proved she was back in prime form competing in big air and earning the bronze medal in slopestyle.

In halfpipe, double-Olympic gold medalist David Wise, Lyman Currier, Taylor Seaton, Hunter Hess, Birk Irving, and Aaron Blunck will lead the way for the U.S. Freeski Pro Team. Aaron is coming off a silver medal performance at X Games Aspen and will be looking to carry that momentum into the Mammoth pipe.

Members of the women’s U.S. Freeski Pro Halfpipe Team set to compete include Devin Logan and Brita Sigourney. Brita will be looking for her second Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix podium of the season after earning second-place in Copper. Also. U.S. Rookie Team athlete Hanna Faulhaber is set to drop in following a bronze medal performance in her last competition at the Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland, less than two weeks ago.

The U.S. Snowboard Slopestyle Team is also bringing an all-star roster to the table including Olympic silver medalist Kyle Mack, Ryan Stassel, Luke Winkelmann, Lyon Farrell, and Judd Henkes. Judd will be looking to ride his way into the top-three after earning second place at the 2019 Mammoth Grand Prix.

For the women, pro team members Julia Marino, Hailey Langland, and Jamie Anderson are ready to compete. Jamie remained podium perfect at X Games last week with a gold medal in snowboard slopestyle. Jamie has gone 15 for 15 winning medals at every slopestyle competition she has entered at X Games. Jamie heads into Thursday’s qualifier as the favorite in the field.

In halfpipe, the U.S. Snowboard Pro Team’s own Chase Blackwell, Chase Josey, Toby Miller, Jake Pates, Ryan Wachendorfer and Taylor Gold will take to the pipe. Taylor has added a double Michalchuk 1080 to his arsenal, but he’s only landed it once in World Cup competition at the 2020 Laax Open to take third place. If he can put it down at Mammoth, there’s no doubt he will be a podium contender.

For the women, U.S. Team riders and Mammoth locals Maddie Mastro and Tessa Maud will be looking to put on a show in front of their hometown crowd.

“I am so excited to be returning to my home mountain for this next contest,” said Tessa. “I love riding in Mammoth. The vibes are always so positive here. The Mammoth Grand Prix is special to me because I grew up watching this event and I am happy to be competing at home. My goals for this contest are to place top-ten and also put a great run down.”

The Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix at Mammoth always boasts an incredible slopestyle course and halfpipe thanks to the famed Unbound Terrain Park crew. There is a stacked international field ready to drop in, so don’t miss your chance to catch it live at Mammoth or tune in to catch all the action.

Three U.S. Podiums Close Out X Games Aspen

In the final competition of X Games Aspen 2020 on Sunday U.S. Freeski Pro Team member Alex Ferreira defended his superpipe title securing his second-consecutive X Games gold medal.

“Let’s go,” said Alex overcome by pure happiness. “I can not believe I went back-to-back. I have so many people to thank. Thank you to my coach Elana Chase. Thank you to my friends and family who came out, I love you guys so much.”

On Alex’s last run, he landed a beautiful double cork 1440 to surpass his teammate Aaron Blunck, and become the first Aspen local to ever win back-to-back gold medals in any X Games discipline. As Alex skied into the finish corral doing his classic pole spin celebration, he was almost immediately swept away by a sea of family and friends before he could even get off a winning interview with host and U.S. Freeski alumna Jen Hudak.

The night was full of amazing moments like Kiwi Nico Porteous landing the first-ever double cork 1620 in halfpipe competition and Alex averaging almost 15 feet of amplitude in one of his runs. Aaron took home the silver medal and Canadian Brendan MacKay rounded out the podium with the bronze.

“I loved the new format,” said Aaron. “It felt like all the pressure was off because it was an overall impression and you could have the option to change things up and do things differently rather than one run counts. I think it was a new way to do things and it really worked for the very well-rounded group of U.S. Freeski athletes.”

Earlier in the day, U.S. Freeski Pro Team member Maggie Voisin earned X Games bronze in her first slopestyle competition back from ACL surgery.

“Today was a super special day,” said Maggie. “I couldn’t be more grateful to get back on the X Games slope podium today. Nine months ago when I got knee surgery all I wanted was to just be ready and back in time to compete at X. I put no expectations on myself to get a podium this week, so snagging the bronze was very emotional for me. Thank you to everyone who helped me the past several months to get to this moment. It feels absolutely amazing to be back!”

This is Maggie’s fifth X Games slopestyle medal and it serves as proof of her incredible work ethic throughout her injury recovery process. To come out and podium on arguably the biggest stage for freeskiing as her first event back speaks to her grit. Maggie was so happy to be competing again that after her second run she exclaimed from the finish area, “I’m so happy to be back!” Maggie usually has a smile on her face and her love for skiing was on full display throughout X Games Aspen 2020.

Maggie’s runs included both a forward and switch 900, beautiful rodeo 540’s off of the shark fin feature and consistent rails throughout the competition.

Estonia’s Kelly Sildaru defended her title earning gold and Swiss skier Sarah Hoefflin took home the silver.

Join us at Mammoth Mountain, Calif. or tune in to watch Maggie, Alex, and Aaron,  and the rest of the U.S. Freeski and Snowboard Team compete in FIS World Cup halfpipe and slopestyle competition at the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix Jan. 29 - Feb 1.

Stevenson Makes History at X Games Aspen

Colby Stevenson put down a dominant performance to become the first X Games rookie to win gold in freeski slopestyle on day three of X Games Aspen 2020 Saturday.

“I had no idea I was gonna win today,” said an ecstatic Colby. “I was just hoping to make it to finals and after I qualified first I was relieved. I came out today with a smile on my face, we had beautiful weather, and I couldn’t ask for much more. I had four different runs in mind and somehow was able to put them all down. It’s amazing to have my family here and thank you everyone for watching.”

This is Colby’s second gold medal of the week after winning the inaugural ski knuckle huck event on Thursday night. After qualifying in first-place in slopestyle, Colby carried that momentum and a positive attitude with him throughout the week in Aspen.

Last year’s defending gold medalist Alex Hall finished in sixth place and had a very unique approach to shark fin feature stomping a double misty 900. Double Olympic slopestyle medalist Nick Goepper put on an impressive display of skiing to finish behind Alex in seventh. Nick dislocated his shoulder in training earlier in the week, but persevered to not only qualify, but lace together multiple top to bottom runs in the finals.

Canadian Evan McEachran finished in second place and Swiss freeskier Fabian Boesch finished in third.

In women’s superpipe, U.S. Freeski Team member and Olympic bronze medalist Brita Sigourney put on a great display of skiing finishing sixth. Brita had consistent amplitude as well as landed back to back 900’s on her second run that lit up the Aspen crowd.

Estonian Kelly Sildaru finished earned her first X Games superpipe gold medal, and Canadian’s Rachael Karker and Cassie Sharpe finished in second and third respectively. Kelly is the youngest women’s X Games freeski superpipe gold medalist at 17 years-old.

X Games action continues on Sunday with the final day of competition. See the full broadcast schedule below.
