Athlete Development

Athlete Development

Athlete development supports the vision and mission of U.S. Ski & Snowboard to make the United States the "Best in the World!" in Olympic skiing and snowboarding. The mission is to provide strong leadership that establishes and supports athletic excellence in accordance with U.S. Ski & Snowboard's core values as well as design a clear path for achievement in the sports of skiing and snowboarding.

The development of an athlete spans many years and takes the support of parents, coaches, clubs and the U.S. Ski & Snowboard through quality event production, training teams, projects, and education.

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Training Systems are an outline developed by the coaches and sport science staff with the help of several top coaches from around the country to define the optimal training, competition and recovery programming for skiers and snowboarders through each phase in their development that will give them the greatest chance to maximize their long-term athletic potential and sport enjoyment.

For more information on Athlete Development, please refer to Pipeline, Criteria, and Training Systems in the Resources section.
