Minnesota sport leader Darryl Landstrom, a long-time regional and national volunteer sport leader, was honored by U.S. Ski & Snowboard with its highest honor - the Julius Blegen Award. Landstrom, who grew up as a ski jumper and nordic combined skier in Duluth’s Chester Park Ski Club, found his pathway as an alpine ski racing leader, first in Central Division and now chair of the national Alpine Sport Committee.

Caitlin Patterson (Anchorage/Craftsbury Green) finished a golden four-race performance at the 2018 L.L.Bean U.S. National Cross Country Ski Championships at Anchorage’s Kincaid Park on Monday sweeping to a fourth straight gold medal. Her dramatic come-from-behind win in the women’s classic sprint final capped a run of four national titles in four races over six days. Reese Hanneman (Anchorage/APU Nordic) swept both sprint events with his men’s classic sprint.

LAHTI, Finland (Feb. 23, 2017) - American cross country skiing took another giant step forward Thursday night in Lahti, as the USA took two medals in a single race for the second straight World Championships. Jessie Diggins (Afton, MN) won silver with teammate Kikkan Randall (Anchorage) taking bronze in the opening freestyle sprint at the 2017 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.
Norway's Maikken Caspersen Falla, the sprint gold medalist from Sochi, won gold. Italy's Federico Pellegrino took gold for the men.
RUKA, Finland (Nov. 23, 2016) – The U.S. Cross Country Ski Team will open its 2016-17 World Cup season this weekend in the frozen north of Finland, with the traditional opening races in Ruka outside the Lapland city of Kuusamo. A dozen Americans are expected to start including World Champion Kikkan Randall (Anchorage, AK), who joins the tour with new baby Breck at her side.
KITTIL, Finland (Nov. 12, 2016) – Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO) overcame Audi FIS Ski World Cup slalom opener nerves, skiing two clean and solid runs en route to her first World Cup victory of the 2017 season. Switzerland's Wendy Holdener grabbed second, .67 seconds out, while Slovakia's Petra Vlhova rounded out the podium in third, .75 seconds behind Shiffrin.
DENVER (Jan. 29) – The North Face, one of the most recognizable global outdoor brands, is being honored by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and SnowSports Industries America (SIA) for its work with the new Olympic sport of freeskiing. The North Face was named as the 2014 recipient of the Doc DesRoches Award for its integration of the U.S. Freeskiing brand and the sport’s top athletes into its marketing campaigns, and for support of the sport at the grassroots level.
