2025 U.S. Ski & Snowboard Congress Update
The women’s FIS Alpine World Ski Championships super-G race in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy was canceled due to fog Tuesday morning. It had been 380 days since reigning super-G World Champion, Mikaela Shiffrin, had stood in the start gate of a super-G race. She'll have to wait a couple more days to get the chance.
Due to inclement weather, the women's giant slalom at the Homelight Killington World Cup on Saturday, Nov. 27. has been canceled. Killington Resort reported 19 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours.
A U.S. Ski & Snowboard proposal to permit Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn to ski against the men was reviewed at the FIS Alpine Executive Board Tuesday night. Given that the proposal was for the 2018-19 season, the board opted to table the motion until it meets again next May.
U.S. officials were happy with the outcome as a first step to working with FIS on a plan that would provide Vonn with the opportunity and create a showcase event to promote the sport.
CORONET PEAK, New Zealand (Aug. 21) - Slalom ace David Chodounsky (Crested Butte, CO) and rising star Paula Moltzan (Lakeville, MN) combined for a U.S. Ski Team victory sweep of the Audi New Zealand Winter Games slalom Tuesday at Coronet Peak. Each race featured a deep field of Audi FIS Alpine World Cup athletes as nations flocked to New Zealand for summer training camps.

Due to the recently enacted European travel restrictions, and ongoing concerns in the United States and Canada regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), U.S. Ski & Snowboard is cancelling all remaining U.S. domestic events, and working to return all U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes back to the United States. In addition, Alpine Canada, and Nordiq Canada have cancelled events to coincide with U.S. Ski & Snowboard.
