SOELDEN, Austria (Oct. 28) - Three-time Audi FIS Alpine World Cup giant slalom champion Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) served notice on the field with an historic 2.75-second margin of victory in the World Cup opener in Soelden for his 12th career win. Ligety mastered the controversial new GS skis, soft snow conditions, variable light and a raging blizzard to post one of the largest margins in the sport's history. He repeated as champion on the Rettenbach Glacier and marked his sixth straight podium in Soelden. It was the biggest victory margin in World Cup GS in 34 years.
Despite weather delays and a lowered start due to fog rolling in and out in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Austria, Breezy Johnson returned to FIS Ski World Cup action for the first time in 667 days landing in 25th, leading three Land Rover U.S. Alpine Ski Team athletes into the points.
The Mammoth Mountain Ski & Snowboard Team has been named the 2018-19 Club of the Year by U.S. Ski & Snowboard. Mammoth Mountain is one of over 400 clubs across the country that provide opportunities for aspiring athletes to achieve their dreams. The award will be presented May 16 at the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Congress in Park City, Utah.
