It boosted him into second in the World Cup sprint standings. Kikkan Randall (Anchorage) had a strong opening heat but failed to advance out of the semifinals. The Davos World Cup is a final tune-up for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships that open in Val di Fiemme, Italy on Wednesday. Swiss Dario Cologna won men's with Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk taking women's.

BEAVER CREEK, CO (Dec. 6) – Five-time Olympic medalist Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) rallied into 13th-place despite continuous snow and sub-zero temperatures in the Audi Birds of Prey World Cup opening. Miller, who is back on the World Cup tour after taking a year off to heal his knee, moved up in the results again this week to show continual progress as he guns for a historic fifth Olympics. SALT LAKE CITY, UT (Dec. 8, 2015) – Between World Cups, Grand Prix and national championships, 47 current athletes and alumni from the U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing will be furthering their education at Westminster College this season. As the official education partner of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), Westminster has helped over 130 national team athletes combine competing and training with a college education. A total of 22 athletes have graduated from the program.

Paula Moltzan kicked off the 2020-21 season with a bang in Soelden, Austria on Saturday, skiing from bib 62 to take 10th place—her best FIS Ski World Cup finish ever. Land Rover U.S. Alpine Ski Team teammate Nina O’Brien snagged her best-ever giant slalom result, finishing 15th.

Marta Bassino of Italy battled her teammate Federica Brignone for the victory to take the first World Cup win of the season. Slovakia’s Petra Vlhova was third.

After her six-year downhill win string was snapped a year ago, Vonn came storming back Friday to win by 1.95 seconds over late-starting Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein. Alice McKennis (Glenwood Springs, CO) was an impressive eighth in her return to action after suffering a broken knee nearly a year ago. It was the largest margin of victory in Vonn's career and moved her to fourth on the women's World Cup all-time list with 43 wins.
