BIO

Sophia Laukli of Yarmouth, Maine, is a 2022 Olympian and one of the most versatile athletes on the Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team. Known not just for her skiing, Laukli is a true dual-sport athlete and is ranked among the best short-distance trail runners in the world.

On the World Cup circuit, Laukli has three podiums and one win: she claimed third in the 10k freestyle mass start Final Climb at the Tour de Ski in Val di Fiemme in January 2023, then returned to the same course a year later to win it by 17.1 seconds — becoming the youngest American to win an individual cross country World Cup race (at the time) and the first American ever to win the Tour de Ski Final Climb.

In December 2025, Laukli stepped away from ski racing to prioritize her health and did not compete at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. She has been open about the decision, stating her goal is to ski into her 30s and that she made the call to protect a long-term career.

Away from cross country skiing, Laukli is a professional trail runner with Salomon — the only athlete on the Salomon roster sponsored in both summer and winter sports. She won the overall Golden Trail World Series title in 2023, highlighted by victories at the Marathon du Mont-Blanc in France and the Sierre-Zinal in Switzerland. Laukli also holds dual U.S.-Norwegian citizenship through her father and speaks Norwegian, English and French fluently.
