Freestyle NorAm Criteria

NorAm Cup

The NorAm Cup is one of six Continental Cups (Europe, Australian, New Zealand, South America, Far East). It is an FIS series of events hosted in the U.S. and Canada and is considered a stepping stone to the World Cup circuit. 

2024-25 NorAm Start Group Criteria

1. U.S. Team athletes

2. Up to the Top 5 U.S. athletes in the overall top 16 from the 2023/24 season's NorAm Cup Overall Mogul standings.

3. Up to the Top 5 U.S. athletes in the overall top 50 from the 2024/25 FIS Base Points List - not already qualified via criteria 1-2. 

4. Any athlete with a World Cup start in the 2023/24 Season.

 

Please note the following: 

  • The 2024/25 season NorAm Start Group athletes will be named in a timely manner once the U.S. Team nomination process is complete in the spring of 2024. 

    The NorAm Start Group list of athletes will be published on the NorAm page on the website for the 2024/25 Season on or before Jul. 31, 2024.

    Athletes who qualify for the 2024/25 NorAm Start Group must email the Freestyle Office (freestyle@usskiandsnowboard.org) of the competition season by Sept. 1, 2024, to accept their spot.

    No additional athletes will be named to the NorAm Start Group if a NorAm Start Group athlete declines for any reason. NorAm Start Group athletes are named for a signal season only. Athletes must qualify each season based on the above criteria.

    If a NorAm Start Group athlete from (2023-24) and (2024-25) is injured and unable to compete in the U.S. Selection Events, the athlete must contact the Freestyle Office by emailing (freestyle@usskiandsnowboard.org) and must provide all medical documentation stating that they are unable to compete. Once medically cleared to compete, they would retain NorAm Start Group status.

    A 2024/25 NorAm Start Group athletes that do not compete in all Mogul and Dual Mogul event days in the 2024/25 U.S. Freestyle Selections Events will lose their status and start rights to the 2024/25 NorAm Cup Competitions. 

5. Athletes ranked in the "U.S. Grand Prix List (GPL)" will be named to any remaining U.S. Basic Nation quota spots after criteria 1-4 in the NorAm Start Group section (up to a total of 25 spots per gender- see NAC rule 10.3). 

Please note: 

FOR SEASON 2023-2024: The "U.S. Grand Prix List (GPL)" will represent a ranking of the U.S. athletes utilizing the best single moguls event and best dual moguls event from the previous season U.S. National Championships and current season U.S. Selection Events using place points. Foreign athletes will be excluded from the place point tally at the U.S. National Championships. At the U.S. Selection Events, foreign athletes will remain at their place of rank. The best finish will break ties, then the second-best finish, the third-best finish, and the fourth-best finish. If a tie still exists, the best finish from the U.S. Selection Events will break the tie.

FOR SEASON 2024-2025: The "U.S. Grand Prix List (GPL)" will represent a ranking of the U.S. athletes utilizing the best single moguls event and best dual moguls event from the previous season's U.S. National Championships, previous season's FIS Open, and current season U.S. Selection Events using place points. NorAm Tour In-Season Qualification Criteria 

6. Athletes ranked in the GPL will be named to any remaining Basic Nation quota spots.

7. Any remaining Basic Nation starts in the U.S. NorAm events will be filled using the FFSP and the "FFSP Schedule for NorAm Starts."

2024/25 NorAm Start Group Athletes

Athletes must accept NorAm Start Group status by Sept. 1 of the competition season by emailing freestyle@usskiandsnowboard.org
