LAKE LOUISE, Alberta (Dec. 5) - Four-time Audi FIS Alpine World Cup overall champion Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) will start the three-race Audi FIS World Cup speed series beginning Friday in Lake Louise. After a successful opening training run Wednesday where she dialed in her race line, Vonn is opting to not start the final training run today in favor of resting. The Olympic gold medalist has won a record 14 times in Lake Louise, more victories at one venue than any racer in World Cup history. Racetime is 12:30 p.m.

BRECKENRIDGE, CO (Dec. 13) – Freeskiing champion Jen Hudak (Park City, UT), six-time X Games medalist and the face of her sport of halfpipe skiing since it burst onto the Olympic stage, is still hopeful for a shot at the Olympic Team following a crash at the Dew Tour on Wednesday. Hudak suffered a torn meniscus and partially torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee. She is planning to continue evaluation with Dr. Tom Hackett at The Steadman Clinic in Vail. Hudak hopes that a best-case scenario would have her back on skis for one of the final Olympic qualifying events in January.
PARK CITY, UT (May 17) – Audi FIS World Cup champion Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) was honored by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association with the Beck International Award, the organization’s highest athlete honor. The USSA also recognized longtime race official John Garnsey of Vail/Beaver Creek with its Julius Blegen Award for three decades of service to the sport. The awards were presented May 11 in Park City at the annual USSA Congress at the Park City Marriott.

WANAKA, New Zealand (Aug. 26) – Olympic gold medalist Kelly Clark (West Dover, VT) opened the 2014 Olympic Winter Games qualifying period for snowboarding with victory at the FIS World Cup halfpipe Sunday in Cardrona, New Zealand. Clark, who won double gold at the 2012 X Games, has won a staggering 19 of her last 20 contests. The New Zealand halfpipe marks the first event of the Olympic qualifying period that lasts for the next 17 months.
SCHLADMING, Austria (March 17) - Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) hoisted her fourth Audi FIS Alpine overall crystal globe in five seasons Sunday to close the 2012 World Cup Finals in Schladming. Vonn, who was three points short of the overall in 2011, also won the downhill, super G and combined titles for a historic 16 career globes and celebrated the all-time highest women’s point total with 1,980.
KLINGENTHAL, Germany (Jan. 25) – The U.S. Ski Team’s Taylor Fletcher (Steamboat Springs, CO) was named the International Ski Federation’s Nordic Combined Athlete of the Week following last weekend’s career first World Cup podium. Fletcher has been lighting up the World Cup the last few weeks with the fastest cross country leg four times. A strong jump on Sunday put him into a spot to content for the podium as he finished 2.9 seconds back from the win in third. Fletcher and his teammates will be back in action with a pair of events this weekend in Klingenthal.
