PARK CITY, UT (Jan. 10) – Olympian Ashley Caldwell (Ashburn, VA), who won her first World Cup aerials event last January in Lake Placid, will sit out the remainder of the 2012 season after knee surgery. Caldwell was injured in a crash at the NorAm Cup aerials event at the Utah Olympic Park in December. She is expected to be back on skis this summer.

TIGNES, France (March 22) – Jamie Anderson (South Lake Tahoe, CA) threw down a stylish and technical run to win silver in snowboard slopestyle at X Games Tignes on Friday. She was gunning for an X Games three-peat, after winning gold at X Games Tignes in 2011 and 2012. She put down a progressive line in the first round, but couldn’t match it in her final two runs. Norwegian Silje Norendal went home with the gold.

INNSBRUCK, Austria (Jan. 21) - Aspen Ski and Snowboard Club athlete Julia Mueller-Ristine (Aspen, CO) was selected as flag bearer for Team USA at the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games, which takes place upon completion of competition Sunday in Innsbruck. The 16-year-old was selected as flag bearer following a nomination and voting process by the U.S. athletes.

PARK CITY, UT (Jan 17) – The U.S. Cross Country Ski Team named its 2012 FIS Junior World Championship Team and Under 23 World Championship Teams. The athletes were selected based on results at the 2012 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships in Rumford, ME Jan. 2-8. The Junior Worlds will be held Feb. 19-26 in Erzurum, Turkey.

MEGEVE, France (Mar. 22) – Bradley Wilson (Butte, MT), K.C. Oakley (Piedmont, CA), and Jonathan Lillis (Rochester, NY) were voted FIS Freestyle World Cup Rookies of the Year. Wilson and Oakley were awarded their cups at the World Cup Finals in Megeve, France. Wilson finished the season ranked eighth in the World Cup moguls standings. K.C. Oakley, who made the finals of every World Cup event, ended her rookie season ranked ninth. Lillis’ honor was announced at the final aerials event in Voss, Norway. He was ranked 25th, making the finals in two World Cups.
PARK CITY, UT (March 7) – X Games silver medalist Devin Logan (West Dover, VT), World Cup skicross standout Brant Crossan (Steamboat Springs, CO), and Youth Olympic Games skicross athlete Lesley Wilson (Steamboat Springs, CO) headline a group of 11 athletes named to the 2012 FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships Team for U.S. Freeskiing. The Junior Worlds take place March 20–25 in Valmalenco, Italy.

Two Land Rover U.S. Alpine Ski Team athletes announced this week they'll be making the final laps of their career at U.S. Alpine Championships in Aspen, Colo.—two-time Olympian and two-time national champion Alice McKennis Duran, and two-time Olympian and two-time national champion Laurenne Ross.
