PARK CITY, UT (Oct. 29) – A strong group of veteran women jumpers highlight the U.S. Ski Jumping Team named during the 100 Days Out to Sochi celebration. World Champions Sarah Hendrickson and Lindsey Van (both Park City, UT) are joined by Jessica Jerome (Park City, UT) on the team that opens World Cup competition Dec. 6-8 on the Olympic jump in Lillehammer. The three are among a host of top women’s ski jumpers from America vying for up to four spots on the debut Olympic Team that will compete in Sochi this February.

VAL DI FIEMME, Italy(Jan. 4) – World Champion Jessie Diggins (Afton, MN) earned a career-best World Cup classic result Saturday, skiing into 10th in the Val di Fiemme 5k, the sixth stage of the Tour de Ski. The result makes Diggins the top U.S. athlete in the Tour standings in 11th, while teammate Liz Stephen (E. Montpelier, VT) is 14th. Stephen finished 21st while Norway’s Therese Johaug took the day’s victory. The Tour wraps up Sunday with the infamous 9k pursuit race up Alpe Cermis, where Stephen was second fastest a year ago.

DAVOS, Switzerland (Dec. 14) – World Cup sprint champion Kikkan Randall (Anchorage) skied into 18th place in the FIS World Cup 15k freestyle race Saturday, securing the top spot for the USA. In one of her best races in the high-altitude venue, Randall headed up a solid day with four top 30 results for the U.S. Cross Country Team. Norwegian powerhouse Marit Bjoergen won the women’s race. Sunday, the men and women take on the freestyle sprints, an event World Cup sprint champion Randall won in Dec., 2011, setting the stage for her first World Cup sprint title that season.

PARK CITY, UT (Jan. 11, 2016) – Two ski jumpers and one nordic combined skier have been nominated by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association to the 2016 U.S. Youth Olympic Team that will compete in Lillehammer, Norway, February 12-21. Casey Larson, 17, (Barrington, IL/Norge Ski Club) was nominated to the men’s ski jumping team, with Logan Sankey, 17, (Steamboat Springs, CO/Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club) nominated to the women’s squad. Ben Loomis, 17, (Eau Claire, WI/Flying Eagles Ski Club) was nominated to represent Team USA in nordic combined.
PARK CITY, UT (Mar. 23, 2017) – U.S. Freeskiing will send a strong team of athletes to compete at the 2017 FIS Junior World Championships, with halfpipe competition to take place in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, March 25-26 and slopestyle and skicross competition taking place at Valmalenco, Italy April 6-7.
LILLEHAMMER, Norway (Dec. 6, 2015) – The U.S. Ski Team women scored an historic podium Sunday, as Jessie Diggins (Afton, MN) skied the fastest anchor leg to give the USA third in the 4x5k relay. Norway won with a significant lead over Finland by nearly two minutes. It was only the third time in history the USA has been on a relay podium.
Ava Sunshine Jemison from Edwards, Colo., and Burke Mountain Academy and Ben Ritchie from Waitsfield, Vt. and Green Mountain Valley School have been chosen as the 2021 winners of the Eastern Ski Writers Golden Ski Award.
Each season the New England Ski Museum presents this award to the most promising male and female junior alpine racers in the Eastern U.S. The awards will be presented at a dinner reception on November 13, 2021, at The Mt. Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, N.H.
U.S. Ski & Snowboard has recognized longtime ski jumping official Chuck Heckert with its Julius Blegen award - the organization’s highest service. Heckert, who passed in November 2020 was the penultimate volunteer and competition official, with a long and distinguished career of service to athletes.
