COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (Jan. 12) – Under clear skies and chilly temperatures, Luke Mitrani (Mammoth Lakes, CA) and Olympic champion Kelly Clark (West Dover, VT) led the USA finishing second at the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix at Copper Mountain. Australia’s Nathan Johnstone and Torah Bright took the wins. Louie Vito (Sandy, UT) was third. It was the first domestic stop for athletes to gain Olympic qualifying points and 5Star World Snowboard event points.

VAL DI FIEMME, Italy (Jan. 5) - It's down to just one stage, the final climb up Alpe Cermis, with Kikkan Randall (Anchorage) of the U.S. Ski Team standing seventh behind runaway leader Justyna Kowalczyk. Randall was 11th in Saturday's 10k classic mass start as Kowalczyk padded her lead to over two minutes. Randall remained over three minutes back but within 12 seconds of fourth. The seven stage Tour de Ski concludes Sunday with a gut wrenching climb up the face of Alpe Cermis. Universal Sports TV is providing nightly TV coverage at 7:00 p.m.
ZAGREB, Croatia (Jan. 4) - Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO) thrilled an overflowing crowd in Zagreb and millions watching across the world on television with a stunning 1.19 second Audi FIS Alpine World Cup slalom victory to take the prestigous Snow Queen Trophy and regain the World Cup slalom title lead. At just 17-years-old, the wire-to-wire win rewrote history as Shiffrin became the first American to win two World Cup races in a single season before the age of 18.
BEAVER CREEK, CO (Dec. 7) – Veteran Olympic and ski racing writer John Meyer of the Denver Post was honored Saturday with the FIS Journalist Award from the International Ski Federation (FIS) and U.S. Ski Team. Known as “America’s Ski Writer,” Meyer was recongnized by U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association President and CEO Bill Marolt and FIS Communications Director Jenny Wiedeke during the Team’s annual Neve U.S. Ski Team Alumni party in Beaver Creek. The award is presented annually to recognize lifetime achievement in covering U.S. Ski Team athletes and events.

HAYWARD, WI (Feb. 18, 2016) – A pristine track is in place between Cable and Hayward in northwestern Wisconsin for the 43rd running of the 51k Slumberland American Birkebeiner cross country ski marathon this Saturday. A host of U.S. long distance skiers are among the favorites in the International Ski Federation Worldloppet Marathon Cup event.
Approximately 10,000 skiers are anticipated for the race, the largest in North America and part of the global Worldloppet series. The Birkebeiner has a strong elite field as a part of the scored races of the FIS Worldloppet Cup.
