ASPEN, CO (Jan. 24. 2015)—The bluebird skies of the previous three days at X Games turned to low-light, cloudy conditions on Saturday in Aspen, Colorado. The bad visibility made an already challenging ski slopestyle course more difficult for the men’s and women’s finals. In the end, Nick Goepper (Lawrenceburg, IN) won his third consecutive X Games slopestyle gold medal and Olympic champion Joss Christensen (Park City, UT) took home the silver. On the women’s side, Keri Herman (Breckenridge, CO) also won silver.

PARK CITY, UT (July 10) – The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation has named two new members to its Board of Trustees. Joining the board are Daniel Leever (Palm Beach, FL/ Vail, CO) and Lynn D. Bleil (Park City, UT). The announcement was made by Foundation President Greg Boester, an Olympic ski jumper who took over board leadership last summer. Leever, the CEO of Specialty Products Corporation (PSP) in Miami, has been a passionate supporter of ski racing in his Vail mountain home.

PARK CITY, UT (Jan. 28) – As a part of its initiative to increase educational opportunities for elite athletes, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and Westminster College have announced an extension to a partnership that has provided college education to over 100 national team athletes since 2005. A total of 23 student athletes – nearly a fourth of those nominated by the USSA for the 2014 Olympics – have attended Westminster in Salt Lake City while training at the USSA’s Center of Excellence in nearby Park City.

PARK CITY, UT (May 15) – The men's U.S. Alpine Ski Team has added Andreas Evers, Bernd Brunner and former Audi FIS Alpine World Cup athlete TJ Lanning to its coaching staff for the upcoming World Cup and World Championship season. Evers, who will lead the men's speed program, brings 17 years of World Cup experience and was previously at the helm of the highly successful Austrian men's downhill team. Brunner also joins the U.S. Ski Team from Austria where he had coached for 15 seasons. He will serve as the head coach for a newly formed World Cup B training group.

TIGNES, France (March 22) - In a repeat of X Games Tignes 2012, Torin Yater-Wallace (Basalt, CO) took the gold medal and left silver for David Wise (Reno, NV). Yater-Wallace’s smooth, versatile bag of tricks won out to Wise’s slightly less clean, but technical run. Women's halfpipe finals followed and Maddie Bowman (South Lake Tahoe, CA) won bronze, her first medal at X Games Tignes. Marie Martinod-Routin from France took the gold in the women’s final.

TIGNES, France (Mar. 15) – Bobby Brown (Breckenridge, CO) took European X Games gold with an impressive technical and consistent slopestyle run. Tom Wallisch (Pittsburgh) came in second with his usual multiple rotations and difficult rail combinations. After a season of first place finishes for Walllisch and two podiums for Brown, the Breckenridge athlete broke through to the top.
