TOBLACH, Italy (Dec. 20 2015) – Two U.S. women were in the top 20 on Sunday in Toblach for a 10k classic individual start race. Sadie Bjornsen (Winthrop, WA) led the U.S. team with a 19th place finish and Jessie Diggins (Afton, MN) followed closely behind in 20th, just 5.6 seconds behind Bjornsen. Norway’s Martin Sundby and Therese Johaug still reined king and queen of distance races, each winning their fourth and fifth consecutive races in the World Cup competition this year.
PARK CITY, UT (June 8, 2017) – Olympic skier John Bower, the first American to win the prestigious nordic combined King's Cup, as well as a formative coach and leader of the U.S. Nordic Ski Team, passed away June 6 in Park City. Bower, who was 76, played a pivotal role in the development of the Utah Olympic Park and establishment of its Olympic legacy facilities.
LILLEHAMMER, Norway (Dec. 3, 2016) - American Jessie Diggins (Afton, MN) charged around the 5k course on the Olympic trails in Lillehammer to win the second stage of the Lillehammer mini tour FIS Cross Country World Cup Saturday. It was the third win of her career. Diggins put 4.8 seconds on second place finisher and tour leader Heidi Weng of Norway.
The win boosted Diggins to third in the weekend tour and into the top 10 in the FIS Cross Country World Cup season standings.
