SQUAW VALLEY, CA (March 22) - Two-time Olympian Resi Stiegler (Jackson Hole, WY) finished one one-hundredth of a second behind Canadian Marie-Michele Gagnon Saturday as women's slalom officially wrapped up the 2014 Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships in Squaw Valley. NorAm slalom champion Lila Lapanja (Incline Village, NV), who grew up near the 1960 Olympic Village, finished third to the roar of the local crowd. Racing action continues Sunday with an FIS women's giant slalom to close out five incredible days in Squaw Valley.
PARK CITY, UT (Nov. 23) – The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association has named 60 different brands as suppliers to the U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing. The broad cross section of brands represent the leading companies in the skiing and snowboarding industry, who provide equipment and services to national team athletes and teams.

PARK CITY, UT (April 10) – Veteran alpine speed coach Stefan Abplanalp has officially joined the U.S. Ski Team as head coach of the women’s alpine speed team. Abplanalp brings strong experience to a veteran team that includes six-time Audi FIS Alpine World Cup downhill champion Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) and four-time Olympic medalist Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA). The Swiss born coach is already at the Center of Excellence in Park City working with athletic staff to shape his program for the 2015 season, which includes the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships at Vail/Beaver Creek, CO.
In order to keep your alpine coaching certification status, a Continuing Education credit is required every two years based on the membership season. For the 2012/13 season, coaches must have completed a full continuing education credit (1.0 credits) going back to May 1, 2010. NOTE: Officials continuing education requirements are in addition to these requirements. Officials updates do not count toward coach continuing education requirements. SCHLADMING, Austria (Feb. 5) - Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) crashed during the opening day super G at the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships. Vonn had posted the fastest first interval and was having a strong run when she went down off a jump midway down the course. She was immediately attended to by race medical officials and transported by helicopter, as is standard protocol, to a nearby hospital where she was evaluated and released. According to U.S.
POZZA, Italy (Dec. 15) - Olympian Will Brandenburg (Spokane, WA) showed he's back in the wheel house in time for the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup stop in Alta Badia by landing third in a Europa Cup night slalom Thursday. Brandenburg, who opened the year with a pair of NorAm slalom wins, finished .10 behind race winner Axel Baeck of Sweden and .08 behind German Stefan Luitz for the second Europa Cup podium of his career.
