COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (March 10) – The 2014 U.S. Alpine U18 National Championships, which concluded last week on the U.S. Ski Team Speed Center at Copper Mountain, displayed an elevated level of athlete high performance amongst U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) regional club programs. According to USSA Regional Development Director Lester Keller, the boost is due to a combination of the Best in the World training and racing facility in Copper Mountain and the early success of the newly established National Training Groups (NTG) and Regional Development Programs (RAD).

CRANS-MONTANA, Switzerland (Feb. 24, 2017) – U.S. Ski Team athletes slated to compete in an Audi FIS Ski World Cup women’s alpine combined Friday in Crans-Montana have withdrawn from the race over course safety concerns.

“Due to conditions, we weren't comfortable with the amount of risk our athletes had to take to push to be competitive,” said U.S. Ski Team Women’s Head Coach Paul Kristofic. “Our concern was the bottom pitch, where a number of girls went out, and we decided as a team we weren't willing to take that risk today."

U.S. Ski Team veteran and Olympian Jared Goldberg held off two Canadian skiers in the opening race of the Toyota U.S. Alpine Championships in Sugarloaf, Maine, to earn the crown of national champion Wednesday morning. Goldberg now will hold the title as the three-time national downhill champion; the first victory was in 2012.

SCHLADMING, Austria (Jan. 28) - Sochi bound David Chodounsky (Crested Butte, CO) finished 22nd in the final Audi FIS Alpine World Cup slalom before the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. It was the fourth point scoring result of the season for Chodounsky, who posted a career best seventh earlier this winer in Val d'Isere, France. Norwegian teen Henrik Kristoffersen landed the surpirse win over Austrian Marcel Hirscher and Felix Neureuther of Germany as first run leader Mario Matt, also of Austria, went out three gates into the final.

MUNICH, Germany (Jan. 1) - Hometown hero Felix Neureuther and Veronika Velez Zuzulova of Slovakia put on a New Years Day show for 25,000 fans with victory in the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup City Event. It was the first win of the season for Neureuther and the second in four days for Velez Zuzulova, who claimed the first victory of her 12 year World Cup career Dec. 29 in Semmering. Slovenian overall leader Tina Maze was second and held on to her lead in the slalom points.
