USSA CONGRESS 2014 

USSA Congress is the annual meeting of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, held each May, this year in Park City, Utah. The USSA Congress is open to all USSA members, regardless of committee participation. USSA Congress 2014 was a huge success. Sport committees, subcommittees and the USSA Board of Directors all held very successful meetings and solicited collaborative discussion on a variety of topics. Attendance was at an all-time high, with a record number attending President and CEO Tiger Shaw’s opening address.

CORTINA d'AMPEZZO, Italy (Jan. 15) - Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) dominated the Cortina super G to notch the 47th Audi FIS Alpine World Cup win of her career and launch ahead of Austrian great Renate Goetschl to stand alone at third on the women's all-time win list.

WINTER PARK, CO (March 30) - Despite narrowly missing the super G win Friday, Tommy Ford (Bend, OR/Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation) collected the eighth national title of his young career with gold in the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships combined, a paper race pairing the fastest time in slalom and super G.

SQUAW VALLEY, CA (March 20) - Olympic slalom gold medalist and World Cup slalom champion Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO) continued her storybook season Thursday with victory in the 2014 Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships giant slalom. To kick off the first day of spring, the 19-year-old technical phenom posted a 1.5-second first run lead before expanding it to a massive 1.88-second margin of victory under bluebird Squaw Valley skies. NBC will broadcast a Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships special at noon ET on Sunday, March 23.
