SCHLADMING, Austria (March 17) – Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) needed a victory in the final Audi FIS Alpine World Cup tour giant slalom to have a shot at a fourth title, but nearly skied out in the first run to eliminate his chances. Ligety was bounced off course and hiked back in to finish the run. He won the second run, but Austrian Marcel Hirscher claimed the win to close the door on the giant slalom title and move ahead of Swiss Beat Feuz in the overall chase by 25 points with only Sunday's slalom remaining.

ROSA KHUTOR, Russia (Feb. 17) - Alex Deibold (Manchester Center, NH) rode to a career first FIS Snowboard World Cup podium Sunday, finishing second in the pre-Olympic snowboardcross test event. U.S. Snowboarding teammate Nate Holland was fourth with Faye Gulini (Salt Lake CIty) eight to lead the U.S. women. Alessandro Haemmerle of Austria won for the men with Michela Moioli of Italy taking the women's race. Deibold picked up his first career podium in his 31st World Cup start.
HIGHLIGHTS
For the fifth time in the 2023-24 season, Lauren Macuga earned a personal best finish, this time, breaking into the top five on an impossibly foggy day in Kvitfjell, Norway.
After multiple course holds, and debate whether or not the race would be officially contested, Macuga held onto a fifth place finish, 0.11 seconds off her first podium. With her finish, she solidified her spot in the super-G at World Cup Finals, and unlocked a new a goal, earning her first podium.
SOELDEN, Austria (Oct. 25) - Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO) celebrated the 100 day mark to the World Championshps in her hometown by winning the first Audi FIS Alpine World Cup giant slalom of her career in Soelden. Shiffrin took a narrow .09 second margin over Austria's Anna Fenninger, then came from behind after losing ground mid-course, scorching the bottom flats in the second run to tie Fenninger for the win. Austria's Eva-Maria Brem was third.

KVITJELL, Norway (Feb. 28) - Travis Ganong (Squaw Valley, CA) knifed through rugged snow and limited visibility Friday to earn the first Audi FIS Alpine World Cup podium finish of his career with third in the first of two Kvitfjell downhills. Fresh off what was a career-best fifth at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games downhill in Sochi, Ganong wiped his goggles mid run as rain and wet snow pelted the fog-shortned course. Olympic super G champion Kjetil Jansrud of Norway and Austrian Georg Streitberger tied for a unique victory. Universal Sports Network will broadcast the race at 11 a.m. ET.
VAL GARDENA, Italy (Dec. 20) - Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) charged through difficult visibility on the upper half of the Saslong super G and made an incredibly athletic move at the final gate to lead the U.S. Ski Team with eighth in Val Gardena. Uncharacteristically warm temperatures in the Italian valley caused the fog to blanket the upper section of the course, creating problems for numerous skiers including Ted Ligety (Park City, UT), who did not finish the race.
Alex Leever led three U.S. men into the second run in the annual Schladming night slalom, crashing into the finish to take 24th place and score his first World Cup points.
