U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the National Governing Body of Olympic skiing and snowboarding in the United States, announced today that the International Ski Federation (FIS) provisionally approved the United States’ hosting of four Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup events in the 2022-23 season, doubling the amount of alpine World Cups in the U.S. in recent years. The 2022-23 FIS World Cup schedules were confirmed on May 25 at the annual FIS Congress.

Drew Duffy and Erik Arvidsson are two promising up-and-coming athletes on the U.S. Ski Team. Both started racing as kids and have gone on to build rsums that most junior racers only dream about. 20-year-old Duffy skied at Mad River Glen, starting his race career there at 9 years old, before heading to Sugarbush to attend Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS). On the other end of the country, 18-year-old Arvidsson grew up skiing on the Bear Valley Ski Education Foundation weekend ski program. When he was 13, he headed to Squaw Valley and raced there for five seasons before making the team.

RE, Sweden (March 8, 2017) – Sam Morse (Sugarloaf, ME; U.S. Ski Team C Team/Carrabassett Valley Academy) and Alice Merryweather (Hingham, MA; U.S. Ski Team C Team/Stratton Mountain School) led a U.S. downhill gold-medal sweep at the 2017 FIS Junior World Ski Championships Wednesday. This was the second-straight U.S. downhill gold medal for junior men.

"It’s awesome to see athletes perform to their abilities when it counts,” said U.S. Alpine Development Director Chip Knight. “Kudos to them and to everyone who contributed to making it happen.”

At the 2021 FIS World Cup Finals slalom in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, Mikaela Shiffrin finished second—her 105th FIS World Cup podium—to secure second place in the overall slalom standings. Paula Moltzan also had an excellent day, skiing into seventh place in the race to take 11th overall in the standings.
