About Cross Country

Cross country skiing has been an integral sport in the Olympic Winter Games since the first competition in Chamonix, France. U.S. Ski & Snowboard is committed to furthering cross country in the United States by providing athletic programs, services, and competitions across the country.

Cross country skiing is generally divided into two groups based on technique: classic and skate. Skiathlon combines the two techniques in one race.

About Freestyle

Freestyle skiing is a dynamic sport featuring some of the most innovative events and highest-flying tricks in the world. The sport was named for the free and creative element introduced by athletes who resisted traditional alpine and nordic skiing. Freestyle skiing made its debut on the Olympic program in 1992 (moguls) and 1994 (aerials).

The sport consists of three primary disciplines: aerials, moguls and dual moguls.

About Freeski

Freeski is an action-packed sport combining the high-flying tricks of freestyle skiing with the edge-of-your-seat excitement of snowboarding. The sport, which is contested as part of freestyle skiing at the Olympic Winter Games, is relatively new, making its Olympic debut in 2014.

The sport consists of three primary disciplines: halfpipe, slopestyle and ski cross.

About Alpine

Alpine ski racing is an action-packed sport that mixes speed, agility, balance, coordination, and tactics into some of the Olympic Winter Games’ most popular events. The sport emanates from the winter recreational activity of downhill skiing that provides skiers of all ages with a lifelong family pastime.

The sport consists of four primary events: downhill, super G, giant slalom, and slalom, plus the combined or super-combined that matches downhill and slalom into one event.
