SAALBACH, Austria (Feb. 4, 2025) – For the second time, U.S. Ski & Snowboard, in partnership with Protect Our Winters (POW) and Kappa, is releasing a race suit designed to bring attention to climate change. The Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team will wear the suit during the 2025 FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in Saalbach, Austria Feb. 4-16, 2025 and the Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team will wear a similar race suit at the 2025 FIS Nordic Ski World Championships in Trondheim, Norway Feb. 26 - March 9, 2025.

In 2023, U.S. Ski & Snowboard partnered with POW, a leading nonprofit organization that rallies the outdoor community in support of systemic solutions to climate change, and Kappa, the team’s technical apparel partner and supplier of the team uniform, to bring to life a unique vision of climate change on the alpine athletes’ speed suits. Laddering up to U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s climate change initiative Easy Green, the 2025 suit is a new version of the 2023 World Championships suit, showcasing melting glaciers. 

In addition to the team partner logos traditionally on athlete race suits, the World Championship suit also showcases the POW logo, a key partner of U.S. Ski & Snowboard in the fight against a warming climate, and the Easy Green logo.

The race suit is designed with Kappa and produced in Italy with 100% Italian fabrics in a factory certified in terms of environmental sustainability.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard is thrilled to announce the 16 athletes that will represent the Stifel U.S. Para Alpine Ski Team at the 2025 FIS Para Alpine World Ski Championships in Maribor, Slovenia, Feb. 5-11, 2025. 

Two time world champion and 18 time World Championship medalist Laurie Stephens will headline the team alongside two time Paralympian and two time World Championship team member Andrew Haraghey. Haraghey has been a leader on the team for years and has already earned multiple new personal bests this season, including two fourth place finishes in Santa Caterina. 

The team veterans are joined by many up-and-comers, including Audrey Crowley, who earned her first career podiums this season in Courchevel at only 17 years old. Jesse Keefe is a rising star and has had multiple top 10 finishes so far this season. Saylor O’Brien of the National Ability Center has had a breakthrough season, securing multiple podium finishes, including her first career win. Between the seasoned team members and the rookies, these athletes have had quite the season so far.

Park City, Utah (Jan. 31, 2025) —U.S. Ski & Snowboard is proud to announce the 21 athletes that will represent the Stifel U.S. Ski Team at the 2025 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Saalbach, Austria, February 4-16, 2025.

The team is headlined by the greatest skier of all time, Mikaela Shiffrin—who has 99 World Cup victories and seven World Championships gold medals. With 14 medals in 17 World Championships starts, Shiffrin is the most successful alpine skier in the modern era. The team will also feature Olympic champion eight-time World Championships medalist Lindsey Vonn, who makes her return to the World Championships after coming out of retirement; her last World Champs appearance was in 2019. 

This year’s World Championships team features both up-and-coming World Cup athletes and veterans who have already captured multiple World Cup podium finishes this year. The rising stars include Lauren Macuga who claimed her first World Cup win in the St. Anton super-G this season, as well as Katie Hensien who just missed the podium in Sölden in fourth place. On the veteran side, returning team event world champion Paula Moltzan will be a force in women’s tech with her recent giant slalom podium in Kronplatz.

Jared Goldberg and Olympic silver medalist Ryan Cochran-Siegle headline the men’s team with their podium performances this season in Val Gardena, Italy. World champion River Radamus will be the man to watch in the giant slalom, while Ben Ritchie will highlight men’s slalom, having consistently scored World Cup points this season. 

“This has been an excellent season for both of our teams with multiple podiums across all disciplines,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard Chief of Sport Anouk Patty. “We have a strong group of veteran and up-and-coming athletes that we know will work together and push one another to the top of the podium.”

This year’s World Championships event will be in Saalbach at one primary venue. It will also feature a new event—the team combined. This will consist of two athletes racing one run of downhill and one run of slalom. The combined time will determine the winner. 

Fans can watch all of the action in Austria live on Infront’s skiandsnowboard.live, with select events tape delayed on NBC. Skiandsnowboard.live will have all events on demand; Peacock will not have races on demand.

Park City, UT (Jan. 16, 2025) - In partnership with Steamboat Ski Resort and the International Ski & Snowboard Federation (FIS), U.S. Ski & Snowboard announces that the FIS Para Snowboard World Cup is coming back to the U.S. for the first time since 2017 for a set of snowboard cross races in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Feb. 25-27. Along with the two World Cup races, the event will feature three NorAm Cup races and the U.S. Para Snowboard Championships.

Due to World Cup cancelations earlier in the season in Europe, an additional stop was needed to fill the snowboard cross schedule. This is the first time that many U.S. athletes will have the opportunity to race on the World Cup level in the United States.

I will be able to have family in attendance who have never had the chance to see me compete,” said two-time Paralympic medalist and 2024 overall Crystal Globe winner Noah Elliott. “Steamboat truly holds a special place in my heart. It was the first place I ever visited in Colorado, my first time laying eyes on mountains, and my first time ever on a snowboard. I see no better fit for a venue to bring the first FIS Para Snowboard World Cup back home since 2017.”

The Para Snowboard World Cup at Steamboat demonstrates U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s commitment to grow the visibility of its athletes and sports through increasing domestic competition opportunities. By showcasing elite World Cup competition on home snow, U.S. Ski & Snowboard hopes to inspire future generations of Para snowboarding athletes.

The Toyota U.S. Para Snowboard Team is the best in the world, winning both Nations Cups last season along with six individual Crystal Globes. The 2024-25 season has already been a success for the U.S., recording four World Cup podiums at the first stop in Landgraaf, Netherlands. The team will take on their first snowboard cross events of the season this weekend in Pyhä, Finland, Feb. 18-19.

BEAVER CREEK, CO (Dec. 16, 2024) – CNBC, TOGETHXR and the Stifel U.S. Ski Team partnered to celebrate a historic moment in women's skiing: the inaugural women’s Stifel Birds of Prey race, Dec. 13-15. The event marked the first time women competed on the iconic Birds of Prey downhill, traditionally a men’s World Cup circuit race for the past 27 years.

This groundbreaking occasion brought together the Stifel U.S. Ski Team’s HERoic program, media company TOGETHXR and CNBC’s Senior Media & Technology Correspondent and author of “When Women Lead,” Julia Boorstin, who leads the CNBC Changemakers list. CNBC Changemakers recognizes female leaders who are impacting society, challenging established business practices and driving industry-wide change. TOGETHXR is the fastest growing and most comprehensive platform devoted to women’s sports. The HERoic program, spearheaded by U.S. Ski & Snowboard, is a movement aimed at empowering women in skiing and snowboarding by fostering leadership, inclusivity and opportunity within the sport.

The weekend’s events explored the intersection of women’s leadership in business and sport. CNBC’s Julia Boorstin moderated the event, joined by Olympic champion alpine skier Picabo Street and Olympic champion freestyle skier Hannah Kearney, alongside a distinguished group of top media, music, sports, tech and finance executives from the Lioness Network, a curated community of women executives brought together by LionTree. These leaders engaged in meaningful discussions about advancing opportunities for women and breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated spaces. The discussions aligned with the mission of CNBC Changemakers, TOGETHXR and the HERoic initiative: to inspire the next generation of women leaders and athletes.

Park City, UT - (Dec. 12, 2024) – U.S. Ski & Snowboard, Stifel and NBC Sports formally announce the return of the Stifel Snow Show, premiering on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 2:30 p.m. ET on CNBC. Airing weekly through the end of the 2024-25 World Cup season, the second season of the Stifel Snow Show will take fans deeper into competitive skiing and snowboarding, sharing athlete stories that go far beyond the snow.

This season focuses on the journeys of some of the world’s best winter athletes, offering a “beyond the bib” perspective. Each episode will feature one of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team’s top athletes, including Mikaela Shiffrin, two-time Olympic gold medalist and the winningest alpine skier of all time, Olympic gold medalists Alex Hall and Jessie Diggins and some of the sports’ legends, like Picabo Street, Jonny Moseley and more. 

The Stifel Snow Show continues to bring fans unparalleled access to every sport on the FIS World Cup circuit, including alpine skiing, snowboarding, freeskiing, cross country and more. Hosted by NBC Sports’ Ahmed Fareed and Cara Banks, the show blends in-depth analysis, recaps of the week’s action and interviews with athletes and experts.

On a challenging, hilly skate sprint course in Lillehammer, Norway, five Stifel U.S. Ski Team athletes advanced out of qualifications and into the sprint heats at today’s World Cup, landing five in the top 30. Jessie Diggins led the charge, who finished the day in eighth place, while Ben Ogden qualified first in the men’s field for the first time, ultimately finishing 17th. 

On the start line, Renae Anderson, Haley Brewster, Erin Bianco, Rosie Brennan, Diggins, Julia Kern, Lauren Jortberg, and Alayna Sonnesyn represented the women's sprint team. Three athletes, Diggins, Brennan, and Kern, made the top 30 in qualifications, punching themselves a ticket to the skate sprint heats. Through the heats, it was anyone's game.

Brennan kicked off the sprint heats for the U.S. team, skiing in heat number two, and skied a strong race but ultimately did not advance as she was not in the top two across the line. Kern skied a smart and tactical third quarterfinal heat, putting up a good fight despite breaking a pole mid-race. Then Diggins, who demonstrated her hallmark tenacity to move through the quarterfinals into the semifinals, ultimately claimed eighth place overall. Kern and Brennan secured 17th and 29th, respectively.

Jonna Sundling of Sweden won the women's race, followed by her teammate Johanna Hagstroem and Norway's Julie Myhre, rounding out the podium. For the U.S. roster, Sonnesyn ended the day in 38th, Jortberg 40th, Bianco 47th, Brewster 53rd and Anderson 58th. 

On the men’s side, Ogden and Young were the lone U.S. athletes to advance. Jack Young punched his ticket to the heats in just his fourth career World Cup start and finished an impressive 25th. 

For Ogden, going into the heats ranked #1 was a different feeling than he's had before. 

"It felt good to win the qualifier for sure, and I think it tempted me to look deeper into the sprint day than I normally do and try to be strategic with the final looming," said Ogden. "I got a pretty quick reminder why you can’t do that on the World Cup, especially not in Norway."

The seven starters for the U.S. men's sprint team delivered solid skiing from the entire team, including Gus Schumacher in 31st, JC Schoonmaker in 39th, Kevin Bolger 45th, Zak Ketterson 47th and Michael Earnhart 51st, respectively. First place went to Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo, who took home his ninth consecutive World Cup sprint victory, with his Norwegian teammate Even Northug in second and Italy's Federico Pellegrino in third. 

With a strong team effort on a grueling course, the U.S. athletes showed they’re ready to take on tomorrow's race, the 20k skiathlon, where athletes will ski both a skate and classic 10k.
