Dear U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team fans, 

The season is here! With our freeskiers and snowboarders ready to kick off the 2024-25 season in Chur, Switzerland, tomorrow and Saturday, I want to take a moment to reflect on this past summer and dive deeper into what we’ve achieved as we head into another season. Our talented teams ended last season on a historic note and we are excited and motivated to keep this going.

Skiing and snowboarding are a way of life for many around the world—millions of people do these sports in the United States alone. It is a lifestyle, travel and recreational activity, and we are lucky to be part of this community.

But when you ask our athletes what the best part of their sport is, whether it be launching themselves off a big air jump or racing at 90mph down icy slopes, it’s that our sports are thrilling. The adrenaline rush is unmatched. The adventure our sports take us on is something our athletes are constantly grateful

At U.S. Ski & Snowboard, we’re 10 sports, one team. We have more than 240 athletes on our rosters, and day in and day out, we work towards our mission of championing the growth of snowsports at every level and developing world champions. For decades, our rosters have had some of sports’ biggest icons and now have current stars like Mikaela Shiffrin, Chloe Kim, Jessie Diggins, Alex Ferreira and Alex Hall. The level of talent we have in the pipeline is also getting deeper, and this area is becoming even more of a focus as we work to take our sports to the next level.

It’s been a busy summer with our teams training worldwide—from New Zealand to Switzerland to South America and beyond—coupled with frequent visits back “home” to the USANA Center of Excellence powered by iFit in Park City. Our headquarters is the perfect example of what drives this organization: It allows our teams to train efficiently, push the bar higher, try new things and challenge each other. It showcases the benefits of having all 10 ski and snowboard teams under one umbrella, visible in the collaboration between the teams that helps to lead us to success. 

Before we jump into this next season, I want to recap the last quickly. We had tremendous accomplishments at all levels: Four of our teams ended the year the best in the world; we took home 13 Crystal Globes, 14 Youth Olympic Games medals and 14 Junior World Championship medals; the cross country and freestyle teams had their most successful seasons in history—and that’s only scratching the surface. We also had record social media viewership and engagement and increased our broadcast numbers. Our Stifel Snow Show on CNBC, Peacock and YouTube was a massive success and told the stories of our athletes beyond the snow to a new audience. We also hosted 11 World Cup events across the country and ended the season with another successive year of record revenue. This was all possible thanks to all of you - THANK YOU.

Going into 2024-25, we’re excited for what is on the calendar. We will host the first-ever women’s Stifel Birds of Prey presented by United downhill race and the first women’s ski jumping World Cup in the United States, and Mikaela Shiffrin looks on track to rewrite history once again with her 100th World Cup win. I’m excited to see if we can top last year’s success, especially as we head into a World Championships year and with the Milan-Cortina Olympic Winter Games in less than 16 months. 

With all that said, let’s get started. 

DOMESTIC WORLD CUP CALENDAR - 12 EVENTS! 

We are proud to announce that we are hosting 12 World Cup events on U.S. soil this season – one more than last season! Having this many domestic events is very important to our organization and the future of our sports and I know how meaningful it is to see our athletes up close, alongside the best skiers and snowboarders from around the world. Competing in the U.S. is a home-field advantage, both athletically and commercially, and directly inspires the next generation of athletes. 

This season, Beaver Creek will welcome the women to the Stifel Birds of Prey presented by United in addition to the men, and for the first time, the women will have the opportunity to ski the same downhill track as the men. It’s the first time many of our women will get a chance to race on home snow, and we can’t wait. To wrap up the alpine season, Sun Valley will host the Stifel Sun Valley Finals, welcoming back the best alpine skiers in the world for the first U.S.-hosted World Cup Finals since 2017 and it will be a festival-like atmosphere with live music, food and community events. On the ski jumping front, the first-ever domestic World Cup ski jumping event for both men and women will occur in Lake Placid, NY. Freestyle will host three World Cups this season, with an exciting new World Cup in Lake Placid for our aerials team. Take a look at the full U.S. World Cup schedule here.

Lastly, through the new multi-faceted partnership with X Games, our freeski and snowboard athletes will compete in the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix and Visa Big Air presented by Toyota at Copper Mountain and Aspen—returning to Aspen for the first time since 2019. Through the partnership, X Games will host a one-of-a-kind X Games-style event following the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix at Copper. 

NEW SEASON CAMPAIGN: BACK IN THE BIB 

We’re starting the season with a new campaign, building off a strong summer of high social engagement and collaborations across several other disciplines. We saw record social numbers this summer, especially with our creative content around the Paris Olympics, and are still feeling the bounce following those successful Games.

“Back in the Bib” is the new season campaign. The concept refers to our athletes putting on that competition bib for the first time this 2024-25 season. Whether at the top of the halfpipe, at the start gate of a slalom, in the mass start of a 50k, lined up for the snowboard cross course, or about to go head-to-head in a dual moguls run, we’re all ready to be back in the bib, and we invite you to share our excitement. The campaign is live on social media, and we’d love to see how our fans are prepping for the season ahead! Show us by posting on your socials with the #backinthebib hashtag. 

PROJECTS 

U.S. Ski & Snowboard continues to focus on our Easy Green and HERoic initiatives. Easy Green is our environmental initiative, built around sharing resources and encouraging all to partake in sustainable practices at all levels of the organization. Since the initiative's launch, we are continuing our work with Greenly to measure our carbon footprint so that we can take action. Our U.S. Ski & Snowboard sustainability task force is collaborating with industry leaders in climate change on what we can do moving forward and this year, we installed more electric vehicle charging stations at the USANA Center of Excellence powered by iFIT. 

This upcoming season, you will also see our Easy Green logo on race suits and patched jackets, showcasing our commitment to climate advocacy on a global scale throughout the winter. 

HERoic – our movement designed to inspire and empower women to thrive on and off the slopes, specifically in women’s coaching and leadership – continues after a successful year of inspiring women’s panels around the country. Data shows a 20% increase in women coaches at the elite level since last year and confirms that women hold 67% of executive positions at the organization.

HOW TO WATCH

We know watching our sports is complicated and we hope to simplify this with FIS in the future, but World Cup skiing and snowboarding broadcast rights will be very similar to last year.

World Cups within the United States: We will again have every second of our domestic World Cup coverage shown LIVE on Outside. All events are free on Outside.com and the Outside app with an email address—you will not be charged if you watch the events live. Outside+ (the paid level) will have all the same events on demand. NBC Universal will also show some coverage from our domestic World Cups through the NBC family, including NBC, CNBC, USA and Peacock. Peacock will not have domestic World Cups on demand.

International World Cups: The InFront-owned skiandsnowboard.live will house all international (except Austria) events live and on demand. 

Austrian World Cups: Austria holds separate media rights agreements, so all Austrian World Cup events can be watched on Peacock with key events like Sölden, Kitzbühel and others are aired on NBC.

STIFEL SNOW SHOW

Last year, we launched the Stifel Snow Show, a groundbreaking new television series that followed the arc of the winter sports season each week that aired on Peacock, CNBC and YouTube, and I’m proud to report that it was a massive success. Every week, new and seasoned fans can dive deeper into our world of elite skiing and snowboarding through weekly World Cup results, interviews with athletes and alumni and more. We have officially locked in a second season, emphasizing more storytelling to give you a more in-depth look into athletes and events. It will be aired every Saturday throughout the ski/snowboard season on CNBC, Peacock and YouTube. We could not be more excited to bring it back for year #2 and to work closely again with the tremendous team at NBC.

PARTNERSHIPS

Our partnerships team has been hard at work throughout the last year, bringing in key partners who are making a difference for our teams and organization, including brands like United Airlines as our Official Airline Partner, the global leader in exercise equipment and fitness content iFit, Hydro Flask as the team naming partner of the snowboard team and Kappa as our Official Technical Apparel Partner, among others. We are celebrating a second year of record revenue growth because of this strong effort and will continue delivering on all fronts. 

Additionally, we were thrilled to announce that we have expanded our partnership with Stifel Financial and Toyota around our Para teams, designed to amplify Para sports. Stifel is the official Team Naming Partner of the Stifel U.S. Para Alpine Ski Team and Toyota is the official Team Naming Partner of the Toyota U.S. Para Snowboard Team. This is the first major investment into our Para sports since the teams came back under the U.S. Ski & Snowboard brand, and we know that this is a huge step forward. 

I genuinely believe that the team we’ve built at U.S. Ski & Snowboard is one of the world's strongest, led by some of the best athletes and supported by the best fans. As we start the season tomorrow in Chur, Switzerland, we will continue building on our success, pushing the boundaries and achieving more as one team. PARK CITY, Utah (October 16, 2024) — U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes are ready for another busy season of competing worldwide, and we’re here to break down how you can watch all the action. Broadcast rights are not centralized, which means that every country has the right to sell their World Cup broadcast - and though it can be confusing and frustrating, there are THREE main ways to tune into the 2024-25 season action with Outside, skiandsnowboard.live and the NBC family (NBC/CNBC/USA/Peacock). 

This 2024-25 season will feature 12 domestic World Cup events, a full international World Cup season and a FIS World Championships in all disciplines. Alpine will compete in Salbaach, Austria; cross country, ski jumping and nordic combined in Trondheim, Norway; freestyle, freeski and snowboard in Engadin, Switzerland; Para alpine to be determined; and Para snowboard in Big White, Canada. World Championships happen every other year in non-Olympic years.

DOMESTIC EVENTS: Outside, NBC/CNBC/Peacock
This season, all events held in the United States are LIVE on Outside for free, with only an email address needed to watch. Some events will also be aired on NBC channels (NBC, CNBC, USA); those events aired on NBC channels will also be live streamed on Peacock simultaneously. Outside+ (paid) will have all domestic events on demand. Peacock will not have domestic events on demand. All events will have commentary.

INTERNATIONAL EVENTS (not Austria): ski and snowboard.live
The InFront-owned website skiandsnowboard.live will have all international World Cups live and on-demand on their website and TV apps. All events will have commentary.

Peacock will broadcast all events in Austria live and will have limited tape-delayed coverage on NBC.

PARK CITY, Utah (October 9, 2024) — U.S. Ski & Snowboard announced expanded partnerships with Stifel Financial Corp (NYSE: SF) and Toyota (NYSE: TM). Stifel will become the official Team Naming Partner of the Stifel U.S. Para Alpine Ski Team and Toyota the official Team Naming Partner of the Toyota U.S. Para Snowboard Team. 

In addition to Stifel’s title sponsorship of the Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team, which was established in October 2022, and the naming of the Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team, Stifel U.S. Freestyle Ski Team and Stifel U.S. Freeski Team in March 2023, the global investment banking and wealth management firm will also be the title sponsor of the Stifel U.S. Para Alpine Ski Team. The partnership makes Stifel the Team Naming Partner of all ski teams under the U.S. Ski & Snowboard organization. 

Toyota rejoined U.S. Ski & Snowboard in August 2021 as the organization’s Official Mobility Partner and Official Vehicle, focusing on increasing athlete opportunities and successes on and off the snow. It is the brand’s first team naming partnership. The expanded naming rights for both Stifel and Toyota are effective immediately.

Para alpine and Para snowboard were reintegrated under the U.S. Ski & Snowboard organization in May 2023 and had an extremely successful first season back. Seven-time Paralympic medalist Laurie Stephens and two-time Paralympic medalist Andrew Kurka led the Para alpine team this year, earning a World Cup win and five podiums, respectively. Exciting newcomers like Audrey Crowley and Jesse Keefe offer promising talent leading into the 2025 World Championships and the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Milan Cortina. On the Para snowboard side, three-time Paralympic gold medalist Brenna Huckaby and two-time Paralympic medalist Noah Elliott had standout seasons, each bringing home multiple FIS Crystal Globes.

PARK CITY, Utah (Sept. 27, 2024) —The alpine Audi FIS Ski World Cup 2024-25 season is officially confirmed with four domestic World Cups on the docket.

First up in the United States is the Stifel Killington Cup Nov. 30 - Dec. 1, 2024. This will be the eighth World Cup held in Killington, Vermont – a venue that the winningest skier of all time Mikaela Shiffrin has won six times. 40,000 fans are expected to show up and cheer on the best women tech skiers in the world. 

Immediately following the women's race, the men will open the speed season in Beaver Creek, Colorado at the annual Stifel Birds of Prey presented by United Airlines Dec. 6-8. This series will include a downhill, super-G and giant slalom. The giant slalom race is back in Beaver Creek for the first time since Stifel U.S. Ski Team athlete Tommy Ford found his first World Cup victory on the track in 2019. 

Then the women will head to Beaver Creek one week later Dec. 14-15, 2024. The famed Birds of Prey downhill track, known for being one of the most challenging stops on the men’s tour, boasts a vertical drop of 2,470 feet and an average gradient of 31 percent. The race will mark the first time many of the Stifel U.S. Ski Team women will race a World Cup on home snow, and the first time the women will have run a downhill at the venue. 

Finally the alpine season will end in the United States in Sun Valley, Idaho for the Stifel Sun Valley Finals held March 22-27, 2025. It will be the first time the alpine World Cup Finals have returned to the U.S. since 2017. This event will bring in the top 25 competitors, both men and women, from each discipline as they fight for the final World Cup points of the season with overall and discipline FIS Crystal Globes awarded.

(September 24, 2024) - As the 2024/25 winter season begins, X Games announces its return to Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen Snowmass for the 24th consecutive year, as well as the addition of a new X Games Street Style Pro event at Copper Mountain in collaboration with U.S. Ski & Snowboard. 

X Games Aspen, Jan. 23 - 25, 2025
X Games will return to Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen Snowmass with some of the world’s best action sports athletes competing in ski and snowboard events January 23-25, 2025. X Games Aspen 2025 will feature men’s and women’s ski and snowboard competitions in the disciplines of Superpipe, Slopestyle, Big Air, Knuckle Huck, and Street Style. In addition to sporting events, X Games Aspen 2025 welcomes the return of special music appearances each night and performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets to X Games Aspen 2025 will be general admission and fans will have the option to upgrade their tickets with multiple hospitality options which include added perks and experiences. X Games Street Style Pro, Dec. 20 - 21, 2024
The first event of the newly announced partnership between X Games and U.S. Ski & Snowboard will be the X Games Street Style Pro at Copper Mountain, running Dec. 20-21. This event will complement the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix at the same venue. The X Games Street Style Pro will feature nighttime competitions and musical appearances, enhancing the daytime halfpipe events with a vibrant party atmosphere. The evening of Dec. 20 will showcase emerging talent from the U.S. Revolution Tour, U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s development series, who will compete for a spot in the pro final on Dec. 21. Competitions will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each evening, followed by a concert. Music details will be announced soon. 

With the new partnership in place between X Games and U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the winners from both the halfpipe and street style contests will earn automatic invites to X Games Aspen 2025. The event will be streamed live at xgames.com.

PARK CITY, Utah (Sept. 17, 2024) — U.S. Ski & Snowboard will host three freeski and snowboard domestic World Cups and three NorAm events in the 2024-25 season. The World Cup events include the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix at Copper Mountain and Toyota U.S. Grand Prix and Visa Big Air presented by Toyota at Aspen Snowmass, while the three NorAm-level stops include U.S. Revolution Tour events at Copper Mountain, Aspen Snowmass and Mammoth Mountain. 

Toyota U.S. Grand Prix & Visa Big Air
The Toyota U.S. Grand Prix is the longest-running winter action sports tour and plays a significant role in the Olympic qualification process ahead of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, with World Cups in 2024-25 counting towards Hydro Flask U.S. Snowboard Team and Stifel U.S. Freeski Team athletes making Team USA.

The first Toyota U.S. Grand Prix of the season will take place at Copper Mountain on Dec. 18-21, 2024, featuring a halfpipe competition in the resort’s 22-foot superpipe. In conjunction, Copper will also host a new X Games event during the same weekend. More details will be announced soon. 

The second stop of the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix will take place at Aspen Snowmass on Jan. 27- Feb. 2, 2025, along with the Visa Big Air Feb. 3-6, 2025, following the Winter X Games Aspen Jan. 23-25, 2025. Having hosted the FIS Snowboard and Freeski World Championships in 2021, Aspen will once again welcome the world’s best freeski and snowboard athletes to compete at World Cup-level halfpipe, slopestyle and big air events at their esteemed venues on Buttermilk Mountain. 

Additionally, aligning with the new strategic partnership between X Games and U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix winners at Copper Mountain will be invited to Winter X Games Aspen 2025. The next athlete in the results will be invited if the winning athlete has already secured an X Games invite.

U.S. Revolution Tour
The U.S. Revolution Tour consists of halfpipe, slopestyle and big air events and serves as a stepping stone for athletes transitioning from grassroots to elite competition. The 2024-25 season will feature three Rev Tour stops: Copper Mountain (Jan. 11-15, 2025), Aspen Snowmass (Feb. 8-12, 2025) and Mammoth Mountain (March 16-21, 2025). 

The men's and women’s freeski and snowboard athletes who win the overall Rev Tour title in slopestyle or halfpipe will earn an invite to the 2026 Winter X Games.

SEP. 16, 2024 - PARK CITY, UTAH - U.S. Ski & Snowboard is proud to announce the roster of 56 athletes who have accepted their nomination to the 2024-25 Hydro Flask U.S. Snowboard Team.

The slopestyle, halfpipe, and snowboard cross rosters include experienced veterans and up-and-coming riders. Each team features a two-time Olympic medalist: Chloe Kim in halfpipe, Jamie Anderson in slopestyle, and Lindsey Jacobellis in snowboard cross.

The slopestyle pro team is highlighted by Red Gerard, the 2018 Olympic gold medalist, and two-time Olympian Chris Corning, who both lead a young crew of riders hungry to prove themselves on the World Cup circuit. The slopestyle rookie squad features two newcomers: 2024 Youth Olympic Games big air silver medalist Ollie Martin and 2024 slopestyle national champion Lily Dhawornvej. 

Sidelined by an injury midway through the 2023-24 season after winning X Games gold, two-time Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim is set to return to the halfpipe World Cup circuit. Joining her is two-time Olympian Maddie Mastro. She looks to carry the momentum from her highly successful 2023-24 campaign into the upcoming season, having finished second overall in the women's halfpipe World Cup rankings. Team veteran and 2023-24 halfpipe assistant coach Maddy Schaffrick is back on the roster after deciding to return to competition earlier this spring. 2024 Youth Olympic Games silver medalist Alessandro Barbieri and teammate Levko Fedorowycz jumped from rookie to pro while newcomers Zoe Guerrero and Orian Casas join the likes of a talented halfpipe rookie roster.

Team mainstays and reigning Olympic snowboard cross mixed team gold medalists Lindsey Jacobellis and Nick Baumgartner lead a young, exciting group of snowboard cross riders. The 2024 FIS snowboard cross rookie of the year Nathan Pare and teammate Theodore Mclemore move from rookie to pro, while Madeline Lochte Bono and Virginia Boyd earn a spot on the rookie squad.

“This year’s squad features a deep talent pool with a mix of veteran Olympic champions paired with young talent,” said Snowboard Sport Director Rick Bower. “It’s an exciting dynamic to see legends like Chloe Kim, Red Gerard and Nick Baumgartner mentor up-and-coming shredders like Rebecca Flynn, Cody Winters and Bea Kim. With the slopestyle season already underway after the 2024-25 August opener in Cardrona, New Zealand, the squad looks to Switzerland for the first big air event of the season on Oct. 19, 2024, in Chur. PARK CITY, Utah (Sept. 13, 2024) - U.S. Ski & Snowboard officially announced the 36 athletes who have accepted their nominations and will join the Stifel U.S. Freeski Team for the 2024-25 season. These nominations are based on predetermined selection criteria.

Two-time Olympic medalist and 2023-24 overall Crystal Globe winner Alex Ferreira leads the charge on the halfpipe front after his perfect 2023-24 season. Ferreira will not go unchallenged, as two-time Olympic champion David Wise, Olympian and 2022-23 Crystal Globe winner Birk Irving, Olympian Aaron Blunck, and X Games medalist Hunter Hess will all be returning to the halfpipe pro team. Three-time Olympic medalist Nick Goepper is making his debut on the halfpipe team after a hugely successful career in slopestyle skiing and is sure to leave his mark. Dylan Ladd, Cassidy Jarrell and Tristan Feinberg are also returning team members rounding out this wildly successful men’s squad. Olympian and world champion Hanna Faulhaber and X Games medalist Svea Irving return to the women’s halfpipe team after successful 2023-24 seasons. Riley Jacobs, who earned a spot through consistent top-six finishes at World Cups last season, is new to the pro team.

The halfpipe rookie team comprises many rookie veterans, led by Matt Labaugh, who begins the 2024-25 season ranked 12th in the world. Kate Gray returns to the rookie team as she balances competing in all three disciplines. New to the rookie squad are Cael McCarthy and Piper Arnold. McCarthy is the reigning NorAm halfpipe champion, a 2023 Junior World Championship competitor. Arnold is a consistent competitor in the women’s field and brought home fourth at the 2023 Youth Olympic Games.

On the slopestyle and big air side, Olympic champion and 2023-24 big air Crystal Globe winner Alex Hall and Olympian and 2023-24 slopestyle Crystal Globe winner Mac Forehand are ready to defend their titles. They are joined by Olympic medalist Colby Stevenson, X Games gold medalist Troy Podmilsak and Konnor Ralph, Hunter Henderson and Cody LaPlante to complete the men’s team. For the women, X Games medalist Rell Harwood returns to the squad alongside Grace Henderson and Marin Hamill. New to the women’s pro team this year is Jay Riccomini (he/him), who earned his spot after multiple World Cup podiums in the 2023-24 season.

The slopestyle and big air rookie team welcomes two new members: Ella Andrews and Hugh MacMenamin. Andrews joins the team after a hugely successful 2023-24 season, including a second place finish in slopestyle at the Toyota U.S Grand Prix at Mammoth Mountain and a silver medal in slopestyle at the 2024 FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Livigno, Italy. MacMenamin also had an impressive 2023-24 season with a great showing in the 2023 FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Cardrona, New Zealand and a second place slopestyle finish at the Copper Mountain NorAm.

The 2024-25 World Cup calendar is exciting, with the halfpipe team cutting their summer break short and kicking off the season in Cardrona, New Zealand. The schedule packs five halfpipe, five slopestyle, six big air World Cups, and the X Games. The 2024-25 season will conclude in St. Moritz, Switzerland, for the FIS Freestyle World Championships 2025. 

Freeski athletes will compete on home soil twice this season. The halfpipe team will be at Copper Mountain, CO, for the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix from Dec. 19-21, 2024. The Toyota U.S. Grand Prix and Visa Big Air presented by Toyota are back in Aspen, CO, this season, where fans can catch halfpipe, slopestyle and big air events from Jan. 29 - Feb. 6, 2025.

Park City, UT & Ventura, CA (June 27, 2024) – U.S. Ski & Snowboard and X Games announce a strategic partnership for the world’s best action snow sports athletes. This unique collaboration will unite two prominent organizations to create The Winter X Games Series, including the U.S. Ski & Snowboard-hosted FIS World Cup events, the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix and Visa Big Air presented by Toyota, alongside Winter X Games.

X Games and U.S. Ski & Snowboard aim to further elevate snowboarding and freeskiing competition, including creating an athletic pathway to the Winter X Games. Winners of the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix and Visa Big Air events will receive guaranteed invitations to Winter X. The next podium place will be invited if the winners have already secured an invitation. Additionally, the next generation of the nation’s best freeskiers and snowboarders will have the opportunity to rise to the X Games based on results from the Revolution Tour, U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s development series, which will also be co-branded with X Games. U.S. Ski & Snowboard and X Games will also collaborate on the calendar and events, including adding X Games-specific disciplines like knuckle huck and street style to the U.S. World Cup weekends, which already include FIS-level halfpipe, slopestyle and big air. 

The collaboration will also involve co-branding and co-promotion efforts, leveraging the strengths of both organizations to enhance the visibility and engagement of athletes and their stories. U.S. Ski & Snowboard and X Games will also share content, ensuring comprehensive coverage and extending the reach for all events and athletes.
